Once upon a time

Hello, I’m Laura. I am from NYC. I think you must be wondering why I am in the Kingdom of Cordonia. It’s a long story. If you wanna know my story, travel with me.

The doors of the ballroom of the palace were thrown open, and I made my entrance…

“ Here we go…” I mumbled.

“ you look beautiful, Laura. The Prince won’t be able to keep his eyes off you.” Hannah said with a great smile on her face.

“Hah. He might like the way she looks, but when it comes to choosing his future queen, he knows who will be able to handle ruling at his side.” Scarlet said with a wicked smile.

“ Scarlet, may the best woman win.” I said.

“ I’m sure I will.” She is laughing now.

Just a trumpet sounded! The herald announced the prince’s arrival.

“ He’s headed this way…” Hannah is looking his way in astonishment.

“ Laura, may I have this dance?” Prince Noah asked with a polite smile.

“ You want to dance with me? I’d love to Prince Noah.” I replied.

“ I was hoping you’d say that.” He smiled.

Prince Noah took my hand and whisked me out to the dance floor of the grand ballroom. As the orchestra played, he led me in a waltz around the room; my gown swirled as I glided through the steps.

“ To think, a few months ago I didn’t even know the first steps to a waltz.” I said while dancing.

“ And now, no one would ever know that you weren’t born into this life. I hope you have never cause to regret coming here.” He said.

“Why would you say that?” Tears are running in my eyes now.

“ Well so much has happened, and…”

As the song winded down, Prince Noah’s hand lingered on my waist and his eyes searched mine.

“I need to talk to you.” He said.

“Is something wrong?” I asked.

“It’s been impossible to get a moment alone with you these last few days. But I need to know— Ahem! Prince Liam, may I be bold as to cut in?” Scarlet asked.

“Oh, of course.” Noah said

“We’ll… talk later?” I said and he replied shortly with a yes.

As Scarlet and Li gilded away, I found my way off the dance floor and spotted a familiar face.
