Ghosts

A/N POV

“Y/N! Y/N ssi, where are you? It’s time for breakfast!” Y/N's brother, Taehyun, yelled up the stairs. She opened the door and lumbered down the stairs. Previously, Y/N had graduated from Harvard in America and, after spending 4 years abroad, she returned to her family in South Korea. Even though that day was Saturday and Y/N flew back home on Wednesday, she still had jetlag.

“Hello, Sunshine! Did you rest well?” Her mom asked, flashing Y/N a friendly smile.

“Yeah, yeah, it was great,” She replied tiredly. Y/N sat down in her chair at the table and started eating her food. “Fantastic. I just wish it could’ve been longer.”

“You’ve had enough sleep, sis. You need to get some fresh air and a little bit of vitamin D. You look paler than a vampire,” Taehyun remarked, and Y/N just about choked on her food. Suddenly, Y/N's dad walked into the kitchen.

“Good morning, everyone! Hey, have you guys told Y/N about the offer-”

“Not now. She just woke up,” Mom glared at dad, who just stepped back with his hands up.

“What offer?” Y/N asked curiously.

“Oh, it’s nothing, Sunshine,” Dad sat down to eat his food. The entire table fell into an awkward silence.

"What offer?" Y/N demanded after a couple of seconds.

"Well... It's hard to explain, Sunshine."

"Then you shouldn't have mentioned it in the first place, dad. What is it?" Mom sighed deeply.

"You will be given an amazing power. In exchange for something," She replied. A million questions ran through Y/N's head.

Power? What power would I be given, and what's the exchange?

How did my parents come across this deal?

Why would they agree to it?

Am I going to die?

The only question that managed to slip out of her mouth was the first. "Power? What power would I be given, and what's the exchange?"

"The power is telepathy. Any other questions?" She knew her mom had heard her ask about the exchange. Y/N knew her mom didn't want to answer it, yet she asked again.

"What's the exchange?"

"You have to... Marry the son of the person who offered us this."

"WHAT?! There's NO WAY I'm doing that! What if they're a psychopath? WHAT THEN?!"

"Relax, Sunshine. He wouldn't hurt you even if he wanted to."

"Why?"

"He's... He's a ghost," Mom responded. All the color drained out of Y/N's face when she heard this.

"I-I-I'm marrying a g-ghost?" Y/N asked, shivering in fear.

"I'm sorry, but it's for your own good."

"SO T-THIS IS HOW I GET WELCOMED H-HOME?! BEING TOLD THAT I HAVE TO M-MARRY A G-GHOST?! I'M 22, M-MOM! I SHOULDN'T B-BE FORCE TO MARRY A G-GHOST!" Man, it's hard to sound threatening while your voice, and entire body, is shaking.

"We know this may not be ideal for you, but you'll be safer with the deal than without."

"I-I'm going up to my r-room," Y/N stood up and sped up the stairs like Lighting McQueen. When she closed the door and shut it, she heard a voice coming from... beside her.

"Hello, beautiful." Y/N turned to see probably the most handsome person she had ever seen in her life. For a moment, she was stunned by his beauty until she realized he was in her room without permission and had probably snuck in through the window. Y/N screamed at the top of her lungs out of pure shock, and he just laughed.

"H-hey! W-what are you doing in my r-room uninvited?!" Y/N cursed herself for stuttering.

"You should know yourself, didn't your parents just tell you?" He replied, leaning against the wall and smirking at Y/N. Just then, it hit her. This must be the ghost I'm going to marry.

"Why are YOU here? Leave!"

"Why do I have to leave my future wife?" Y/N gagged at his words, then grabbed a broom and pushed him out of her room. As soon as she was about to collapse on her bed, he walked in again.

"You know I can walk through your door, right?" He chuckled, and Y/N groaned.

"Ugh, who are you anyway?" Y/N asked him as she laid down.

"Lee Know," He sat down on my bed, right next to her.

"Why are you here NOW?"

"Because why not."

"MOM! DAD!"

"Okay, okay, I'll leave," Y/N chuckled as he walked out the door. Suddenly, she heard him say, "Cute."

"What did you say?" Y/N asked him, opening the door.

"I didn't say anything," She then heard him say, "Oh, shoot! Did I say that out loud? No, there's no way. She is really cute, though," Y/N chuckled after hearing this, and realized that she had gotten her powers.
