The Itsy Bitsy Spider...

"The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout..."

A high-pitched voice sang ominously, ringing in his ears.

"Down came the rain and washed the spider out..."

The voice came closer and closer as he moved forward slowly.

"Out came the sun and dried up all the rain..."

The voice seemed to be at its loudest at this point.

"And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again..."

The voice stopped.

"Or did it?"

An ear-splitting scream filled his senses. He held his head tightly and his knees became weak. His entire body felt numb as the scream continued. His vision was blurry and completely shaking.

He shot up in a cold sweat and looked around frantically, gripping onto the bedsheets. He had almost forgotten where he was. Then, he remembered. He was in KDS Academy for Orphans. He was alone in the cold, dark room, only accompanied by the moonlight and bright yet dull stars. There was still a piercing pain in the back of his neck. It had started the night before but the exact events were still just blurry dreams. Every one of his memories seemed to be blurry and dark. Frey Altair..Frey Altair.. he continued repeating in his head, trying his best to remember his name.

Frey looked down at both of his hands to see a small number of black scales on them. Nothing's changed. He let out a heavy yet shallow sigh. He quickly opened up the drawer of his nightstand. There was still the small fountain pen he had left there. Frey sighed again and started replaying the dream - no - nightmare in his head. He was a strange child. For all of his twelve years, he could vividly remember every single one of his dreams.

He could never tell if this was a gift or a curse. Some dreams he didn't want to remember. His dreams seemed to be the only things he could remember. Although, dreams were a rare sight for Frey. Nightmares were all he could recognize. It's too hot... he thought, regardless of the cold night wind coming from his window. His mind was stirring with what to do. Go back to sleep? Leave the room? Stay awake? He let out a shaky sigh and felt a tear fall down his cheek. It landed on one of his scales and immediately turned to steam. Frey felt that his grey, rectangle glasses were on his face, although he had no memory of putting them on. What did I expect? No memories here...

Brass Taiga...Archer Nightseye...Mina Sei... He checked his pocket watch quickly. Sylvi Hite... He continued saying the names of people he saw. It was almost like a memory exercise for him. Zaide..Midlight... He slowed his walking and paused when he saw a large, pointed shard of glass. He reached down to pick it up when...

"Frey!" exclaimed his best friend, Blaire Mires. "What are you doing?"

Frey looked up in surprise. Somehow, there was nobody in front of him. He looked around and still didn't see Blaire. Great..Schizophrenia..lucky me... Frey fully stood up. He took a deep breath and took a second to take in the world around him. It was a cloudy day. Mist and dew stuck to the 4-inch thick glass of the windows. The windows have always been that thick. They never wanted the students to go outside. Never. Near the lockers about 20 feet away from him, he saw two tall girls. Both had fiery red hair done up in ponytails. One had oval glasses and the other, a scar across her left eye and a bandage on her face. Both had cigarettes in their mouths. He recognized them as the 4th year trouble makers, Iris and Irene Kaylis. The identical twins, of course. Not far from them, Frey saw Archer Nightseye and Zaide Midlight. Archer had dark brown skin and jet black hair in a small, short ponytail with bangs that covered his left eye. He also always wore a darkish gray toque. His most noticeable trait, however, was his hawk-like yellow eyes. Zaide almost looked like the polar opposite. He had pale skin, messy platinum blonde hair, and light yet dull green eyes.

Frey had black (almost dark gray) hair, gray eyes, and pale skin. He always wore black leather gloves and rectangular gray glasses. His scales ached against his hands. He felt dizzy as his vision went slightly blurry. He almost lost his balance when he leaned on the lockers next to him. The bell shook him back to life.

The day went on with no problems. Except, of course, that he hadn't seen Blaire all day. Also, there was this girl in his math class he had never seen before. She had dull blonde hair, gray-blue eyes, and olive skin. She was wearing black leather fingerless gloves, although there was something red on her fingers. It almost looked like blood. The bottom of her shoes had the exact same color liquid. Frey paid no mind to it, however. He'd forget about it at some point in the day, right?
