Chapter 1

I felt light and full of freedom and energy. But of course I did, this was the only way to feel when flying. "

Watch out!

" I giggled as I dodged a falling dewdrop. "

Lian, what are you doing?

" I turn to my panicked peer and took in her distressed appearance. "

My dearest friend, all is well."

I gave her my most relaxed face, which wasn't too hard to do, and swung my arms out wide while flying straight up into the air.

A cold hand gripped my wrist before I could get past the first branch of the closest tree and jerked me back down. "Are you on berry juice? You need to watch where you are going and we both need to start heading back to the palace now!" I giggled at the thought of me drinking such a beverage. Although it's not technically forbidden, its strongly advised to never even taste a single drop. It's supposed to make whoever consumed it extremely reckless and prone to extremely horrible outcomes. I heard someone had nearly been eaten by a beaver after destroying its home one time.

"Reva don't be silly. I'm getting married today!" I let her drag us both through the air, just high enough for my toes to touch the tips of the ever growing and towering blades of grass. Compared to a regular fairy, a blade of glass is nearly three time bigger. "Not if you don't get there!" I laugh at her. Reva has always been such a drama queen but she's also the only real reason I'm on time, or early anyways, for anything.

I hear her breathe an exasperated sigh and quickly lift us both higher into the air. The palace had been created with the help of the animals in the surrounding forest some eons ago. Fairies were actually the ones to create the forest, or any form of life really. Although we do not live forever, my kind has always been here.

But, because the palace was built so long ago, it has begun to crumple. Cracks were on the side of it with the ancient oak it had been carved into overcoming the stone and jewels imbedded within it.

This was also why, after a couple of weeks after our coronation, which would be after our wedding, Areon and I will move into the new palace. This would symbolise not just the beginning of our life together but also a new reign over the fairy kingdom. It represents a change in all of our lives. A good change.

"Lian! You should have been here two sun shifts ago! Where haev you been?" Queen lilah's voice was kind of like a summers breeze. Your grateful for it's arrival during such hot weather and regret its ending when it's finished. I straighten up immediately when my feet hit the cracked stone on the wide balcony. "I sincerely apologize for my tardiness, my queen. I must have lost track of the time." She smiles sweetly at me in understanding and says, "I understand but of course you should know that upon your coronation, those dallying days will be over."

I try not to roll my eyes as she begins her annual instruction of what a queen should be. Not that it would matter if I did roll my eyes what with her back being turned to me and all. Reva hides her smile behind her hand when she sees my expression. "What's so amusing, dear reva." Reva immediately drops her hand and replies, "I was only noticing Lian's attire."

I scowl as the queen turns to give me a look over. I had been too excited to consider if what I was wearing was appropriate or not this morning but as I stood there with reva giving me a devilish smile and the queen slowly becoming more disappointed in me with each second, I began to regret my rashness. I wore a casual dress, nearly see through with its lightness, that had a slit that started at my mid thigh and ended with the hem at my ankles. It was a favorite among the more modern generation of fairies and resented by the older ones but either way, it was a design I have grown fond of. Although I do not know if she likes the dress or not, I knew that it was more the dirt smudges and dampness from dewdrops that has her frowning.

"Lian, I know not what you have been doing in the forest, but a queen in training is mean to grow into the custom of being presentable appropriate at all times. This is unacceptable. What the people of this kingdom think of you is vitally important, especially now." My face grew hot as she continued to chastened me. She took a breathe, "Come, we can talk as you dress." I walk past her and into my chamber while she adds on, "And reva. You are a significant part of lians life which makes you important. You should help your friend as she goes through the process of becoming your ruler, not make fun of her. During her reign, she will need someone to rely on in every aspect."

Revas' face turns as bright a red as the spring flowers that grow throughout the fairy cemeteries. "Yes, my queen." I stifle my smile and was practically ran over by a recently hired maid. she looked up at me with startles eyes, her lips taking the shape of an o before quickly apologizing. Before i could even reply t the small fairy, the queen cuts in with a," Daisy, please watch where you step. Get Lian her dress and call ophelia. She will be needed to do the brides hair." The poor girl scurried away immediately.

"Reva, she may need help with her dress so stand by. I will be back in half an hour with your escort." The queens green eyes slide from revas brown ones as she exits without saying anything further from me. This was normal for us, the queen chastens us and leaves and that's it.

Reva breathes a sigh of relief and I let out a giggle.
