Prologue
I wonder what it's like being a normal girl. That question echoed in my mind while I waited for my dad to arrive. I could hear the blood dripping from my knife to the concrete floor. I looked at the man on the ground. Blood was starting to leak out of his body into a growing pool under him. The smell of iron from him and my knife made me sick. If I was a normal girl, would I be able to go to school like everyone else? I looked down at my blouse. The man had taken the liberty of undoing the buttons on my shirt. My chest was exposed. Father would get mad at me for my appearance. Dropping my bloodied knife, I lifted both of my hands to my shirt to re-button it. I wonder if I was normal could I fall in love? Dad said I didn't need anyone other than him but when I was with Mac, I felt so happy. I shook that thought from my head I just need to do what I'm told, or Father would get angry.
I look back at the man on the floor. I didn't know who he was, nor did I care. He wasn't going to rescue me from the hand I was dealt, no one ever was. Maybe if Mac was here, he'd know what to do. Did I want to be rescued? My face furrowed in a frown at that thought. I don't know any life other than this. Killing and killing was all I ever did. My job is my life. Do I even deserve a new life? I continued stare at the man my gaze unmoving. Did he deserve to die? Do I deserve to live? If dad was here, he would know the answers, he always did.
I heard a loud noise come from behind me. The sound was like a metal object hitting the ground. Is that father? Before I had the chance to turn around and look, I felt a sharp pain throughout my head. My vision blurred to the point my eyelids started to feel heavy. I began falling to the ground. The last thought as my consciousness left me was how father would punish me for getting hurt.

.... "Hey! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I heard a voice calling for me. My eyelids still felt heavy, but my mind was starting to wake up.
"Hey! Can you hear me? Are you alright?" The voice I didn't recognize it. Who was this person? Why was he here? With a hurried movement I opened my eyelids and crawled away in a daze of panic. I felt my back hit a wall. My head hurt and ached for some reason. How did I get here? Where am I?
The distance calmed my nerves allowing me to observe the man or should I say the men in front of me. The one who was calling out to me earlier was crouching down and looking at me. He had short, curly brown with dark brown eyes. He had a calming aura around him and a gentle smile on his face. His eyes were full of kindness and patience. He wore a long sleeve, wide necked, white sweater and long dark brown pants and shoes. The other man was standing a little way behind him and stared at me with a look of annoyance. He was standing at his full height with his arms crossed. His hair was dirty blonde and long that went well past his shoulders. His eyes remained me of the color of an avocado shell. He wore a plain white t-shirt with a black jacket covering it with jeans and a pair of black boots.
"Hey are you okay?" The curly haired man started to shuffle toward me with a worried expression. I stayed where I was too afraid to move.
"Who are you people? What do you want with me?" I looked at the man in front of me with pleading eyes. "Don't hurt me."
The brown-haired man didn't attempt to move closer to me anymore, but his gaze did stay on me. He raised his hands up showing me he wasn't a threat.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt or make you do anything you don't want to do. Do you mind telling me your name?" I stared at the man I couldn't see any malice or ill will coming from him or his partner even if the long-haired man didn't seem every happy. Father always said not to trust anyone else besides him but that boy from my childhood was always nice to me. I wonder if these people were the same as Mac. I looked at the curly haired man a second longer before responding.
"Evfie." A happy smile appeared on the curly haired man's face. It made me want to smile in return.
"What a beautiful name. Now, Evfie how old are you?" The brown-haired man decided to stop crouching and instead seat on the floor. For some reason that made me feel safer.
"18" A flash of shock ran through his eyes. I almost didn't catch the change of expression.
"I see do you know how you got here or what happened to you?" I shook my head. I really didn't know how I did get here. The last thing I remembered was being at home in the room, but I couldn't tell him that. Father said I can never tell anyone what I do or what happens at the house. I would get punished over wise. The man gave me a worried look before standing back up and turning towards the angry looking man.
"I think we should take her to Stephen's. We can figure something out there." The long-haired man nodded and stared walking off.
"I'll meet you in the car." The long-haired man said before he was out of sight, the curly haired man looked back at me.
"I'm Donnie, the guy who just left was Hyde. Forgive him if you can for his rudeness but he's a good guy once you get to know him. It's nice to meet you." The man named Donnie held his hand out to me. I looked at it for a moment trying to decide either to trust this person or not. If he's like the others I could always kill him, but I had a feeling I won't have too. With all the courage I had, I grabbed his hand in return and allowed him to guide me in the direction of his car.
"Well, we should get going then." Donnie turned his back to me and started walking in the direction Hyde went. It took us about an hour and a half to get to the place they were talking about.
