Prologue
Emily Sophia Nolan.
``What have I ever done to you?“. The anger inside me was starting to make my hands shake. Anger and nervousness. He turned back around towards me and his green eyes met mine again. His face revealed nothing but I saw his mouth curled up into a sadistic smile. I remembered that I still knew so little about him but something about him made me want to be around him. Maybe it was those green eyes or the fact that he was just really good looking. But a feeling inside of me made me doubt that. There was something more that made me want to be around him and I had a feeling that he wanted me to be there as well. I just didn’t know why.
“Why, Sixten? Why are you like this towards me?” I asked. You could clearly hear the insecurity in my voice, so much that I almost regretted opening my mouth.
“I just love watching you, watching you cry, watching you get angry and fall apart. You, little girl, you are my own personal entertainment”. That hurt. I felt the tears return and one little drop escaped my eye and ran down my cheeks. What did he mean by falling apart?
“I hate you,” I suddenly whispered. Why did I say that? It just flew out of my mouth. But it was too late. His eyes and the look on his face revealed that he had heard my words yet nothing in his expression changed.
My thoughts and emotions were running wild. The only thing I knew I wanted right now was for him to keep looking at me. “Big words, Emily. Isn’t there a saying that girls only say ``I Hate You″ to guys that they really love?”
He started walking back towards me. He only stopped when there was an inch between us and our lips, an inch from touching. His expression hadn’t changed. His green eyes were cold and dark. They looked at me. His lips were slightly parted.``You hate my actions, not me right. You don’t know me” he said, correcting my words. I was speechless as I leaned back against a car as his arms slowly moved until his elbows rested on each side of my shoulders. There we were. The closest we could get, up against someone’s car. If people saw us, they wouldn’t think we were fighting.
My breathing got heavy as I felt his warm breath on my lips. His hands were almost touching my shoulders.
“You got anything else to say, little girl”?
Silence. He moved his right hand and placed it right above my hip. I felt my cheeks starting to burn.
”You look afraid?” He said and his smile got bigger.
A warm feeling spread across my body, from where he had placed his hand. Feelings got all mixed and I was no longer sure of what I was. The only thing I was sure of was that this had never happened to me before. No one had ever made me feel like this, far from it actually. I was all starting to be too much and lightheadedness kicked in.
It started to darken before my eyes and numbness spread down my legs.
How much did I eat today? Probably not enough.
In the distance I heard a male voice yelling something that sounded like, move away from her. The voice belonged to Markus.
Then a whisper “You are not making this any fun for me, Emily”. No, it was not Markus’ voice. It was definitely Sixten and sounded rough and dark.
