Chapter 1: Prologue; Emily

The Seekers. This was the name of a new group I joined on Instagram. They invited me to join them for one of their famous hide and seek games, and I thought it was a good idea. My best friend, Victoria, told me not to join them until I know who they are, but I can take care of myself.

I graduated at the top of my karate class, and I was one of the best girls on my wrestling team. I was also the only girl, but I was better than most of the guys. So fo course I thought I would be able to handle myself if things got out of hand.

Now, I kind of wish I had listened to Vicky, cause now I'm stuck in a dark closet. The group I joined turned out to be exactly what I was trying to avoid.

Vicky is my only friend, and I have no siblings. My parents actually wanted me to branch out more. So I joined the Seekers. I thought that is I was around more people, my parents would get off my back and let me be. Only now, I wish that I ignored them, and listened to Vicky.

She's always right, even though I hate to admit it. No one can hear my screams, I'm scared. This is my story. I just wish the ending was different.

"Vicky?" I ask. "Hm?" She hums in reply. "I think I'm going to join the Seekers." Vicky gapes at me. "Have you learned anything from your true crime documentaries? You could get kidnapped Emily!" "I know how to handle myself Victoria." I spit in reply. She hates it when I call her that.

Her parents always call her by her full name, and they abuse her. I feel a sting of regret doing this to her, but she needs to understand. My best friend starts tearing up, lost in a memory, and I can only guess what it contains. "Vicky, I'm sorry. You know I didn't mean it-" I start, but she cuts me off. "No, you know exactly what you were doing. You know what they do to me. You know how bad it is. Don't say you're sorry if you're just going to keep doing this when you're mad at me." She says, starting to cry.

"I'm going to leave. I'll call you tonight, bye." Vicky says, walking out of my house. Even if she's mad at me, she always calls me at night. It helps her cope. She would have stayed the night at my house tonight, but I messed up. Again.

"I'm sorry Vicky!" I yell at the closed door. She's leaving me for them. I really messed up.

That was the last time I saw my friend. I was with the Seekers after she left, and I never got to leave. My only hope is that Vicky will save my sorry a$$ once again.
