Ch 1

Jenna pov

I look at Andrew and my parents and wonder what is supposed to happen now? Am I just supposed to know where to go? Andrew just shrugs his shoulders because he’s not getting anything either. My grandma just smiles and points towards my heart. I look down but don’t see anything, so I place my hand over my heart. Instantly the world around me goes black and can see a line glowing away from the palace along the ground.

I yank my hand away and the world goes normal and everyone is starting at me in anticipation. I take a few moments when I feel my arm being touched and see Andrew with concern all over his face. I touch my heart again and flip the light and his head snaps to look at the glow along the ground. When I remove my hand he stares at me wide eyed.

“Well now is everyone ready for a little adventure? What kind of supplies do we have? Will we have enough to deal with this shit once we get there?”

Everyone smiled but I think Tony smiled the biggest. Now just to figure out how to get to this place the fastest.

“Andrew if I hold your hand what I see is what you will see. I need someone to tell me if I’m going to run into something. So I am going to move fast along the path. If I’m about to hit something grab me to stop me.”

He nods his head and I place my hand over my heart and start walking quickly. I can hear him right next to me so I start picking up the pace. I can hear shifting behind me with growls roaring out loud. I sniff the air but abruptly stop in my tracks bawling. I quickly take my hand off and turn around staring at my parents. They shift back quickly to stare with concern written all over their faces.

I run to my dad to smell and don’t smell anything, then to my mom and can’t smell her scent either. I just back up shaking my head back and forth in denial. It can’t be. I can’t smell their scents anymore.

“Jenna what’s wrong? Baby please say something.”

“I can’t smell your scents anymore. I can’t smell anyones scents. I guess with everything going one I never realized it.”

I just bawl into my hands when I feel arms wrap around me. I never thought I wouldn’t be able to smell scents anymore since it’s been my whole life. When I open my eyes and I see that my dad has me in his arms. I can feel the pain that he has for me. It’s hard enough that I have been changed into a dragon but never this was the other part of it.

“Jenna no matter what has happened nothing changes anything. Your still my daughter no matter what shape you take. I can understand the hurt you’re feeling right now but believe me we will try to make sense of it after.”

I nod my head and slowly turn towards Andrew who nods his head in agreement. I take a deep breath and just nod my head placing my hand on my heart again having the path show itself again. I start running again and can hear everyone going with us. We go for hours and hours and it seems like this path is never ending. When I remove my hand I see that it’s starting to get dark and know that we need to find shelter for the night. We could probably keep going but we have humans with us. They will need their sleep. Everyone starts setting up a camp and getting some food.

I find a rock to sit on and just stare out at the landscape not knowing how this will all turn out. What if we are too late? What are we going to be dealing with when we get there? How will we get in? The questions keep going through my mind when I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn and see my mom smiling down and I just look back.

“We will find them Jenna! Just have faith. I know you have a lot of pressure right now to get there but you aren’t alone! We are all in this together.”

“I know mom. I’m just so scared that we won’t make it in time.”

“Jenna I know you stopped for us, but if you want to continue we can. We will let you know when we absolutely have to stop. Then we will just need some sleep and we can go again.”

“Are you sure Tony? I don’t want to force you to try and keep up with us shifters.”

“Jenna how long have we known each other now? We will be fine. Let’s get some food in us first and then get a couple hours rest and then we will continue.”

I nod my head while he walks away barking orders for his men to quickly eat and get some rest while they can. I hold my moms hand when Andrew comes into view handing over some food to eat. I shake my head because I’m not really that hungry when I hear a low growl. I snap my attention to him in shock when he just stares at me.

“Eat Jenna! You need to eat for the both of you! You’re scent has changed. You need to eat.”

“You can smell my scent? Why can’t I smell anyone?”

“That I don’t know but I can tell your scent has changed. So eat.”

I just nod my head and start eating and before I know it I’m looking for seconds. There wasn’t that much leftover to choose from, but anything that was left has been picked clean. I see Andrew still eating and turn to walk away when I hear a voice enter into my head.

“Jenna get over here. If you’re still hungry say something!”

I walk over to him when he snakes his arm around my waist and yanks me to sit on his lap. I just lean against his chest when he shoves his plate into my lap. I shake my head no and feel his chest vibrate with a growl. I quickly grab the plate not even realizing that I’m quickly shoveling the food into my mouth. While I’m eating I feel Andrew take a deep breath in and quickly set me on the ground whispering for my dad pointing, everyone jumps up and gets into defensive positions while Tony and his men raise their guns. I can see them start to communicate through hand gestures when they start walking towards the field in front of us.

We see them start to crouch down making their way through the grass when we hear a loud growl and grass start rustling around. Growls erupt as everyone starts swarming to where this movement was when we can hear a fight break out and yelling going on. It takes a few minutes but when everything goes silent I see my dad and warriors walking out with some bloody scratches.

Andrew comes out behind them with his hand around the throat of a male. I cover my mouth in shock as I see he has some wounds on him also. When he walks up with him Tony’s men quickly tie him up holding a pistol to his head.

“Who are you and what are you doing here?”

“Do you think I’ll actually answer your questions? I mean seriously.”

“Well the alternative would be you with a bullet in your head. I will gladly pull the trigger.”

We watch while he starts to chuckle when Tony walks over pulling out a pistol and placing it right between his eyes. Let’s say he wasn’t quite laughing after that. I don’t know if it was the gun or the fact that Tony made a comment that if he has a family he will hunt them down also. It had to have hit a nerve because we can see him look around very concerned.

“Look work with us and we can work with you.”

“If they find out I’m as sure as dead. They have their connections.”

“So do we! Tony is there anyone else we can call to help us with this mission?”

“Let me make some phone calls. I know some people.”
