My Love,

“You’re beautiful…” he whispered. With eyes shining like the stars on the beautifully painted landscape before them, she looked up at him, and it was that, lost in each other’s eyes. It was a sin falling for a man like him. She promised herself she wouldn’t. She studied him closely, how his eyes sparkled under the dark moonlit skies, and his breath hitched just by staring at her. It mesmerized her. She needed to know then if what she heard was true.

“ do you really think that?” she lightly giggled. Butterflies restlessly fluttered inside her, waiting to be set free. He gave her a small smile and held her hands.

“ the most beautiful…” he dipped his head, warm ellipse meeting the back of her soft hands. He straightened up and gave her a big warm smile, and something told her that his smile was genuine. His gaze was warm, like how the sun touched the flowers in the field. He brought her close and wrapped his arms around her. It was warm, and she didn’t want to let go. She wanted to stay like that in his arms forever if such existed. He hugged her close, afraid she might disappear if he’d let go.

“I love you, so please stay…” those words flew freely from his mouth, and he closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth radiating from her.

The moon, indeed, was beautiful. The stars twinkled so brightly one might mistakenly think they were dancing across the midnight-painted skies as the wind dances over the fields where he stands. There lies the plaque, shining under the moon of which his lover’s name was engraved. Flowers are fresh like those in the meadows.

He kneeled at the foot of the shining plaque, tears slipping out of his eyes as he whispered, “ my love, you are and will forever be as beautiful as the moon and eyes mesmerizing as the stars.”
