The Storm Arrives

Our story begins on a rainy night at Peter's cabin in the woods. Usually this neck of the woods are calm and the lack of trees in the area made for good stargazing space. However, tonight was different. Peter could feel that something was wrong. The hair on his leg stood up, and his eyes dashed back and forward through the room. "There's no need for me to be so alerted," Peter said. "It's only the rain."

Then, not only a few minutes after, a tree fell in the distance. The loud thump of the tree made its way into Peter's ears, and he suddenly went on alert again. His hair stood back up, and his eyes darted across the room. He looked out of the window, but the rain wouldn't let him see very far.

He grabbed his composure again, and went into the kitchen to find a snack. He wasn't in the mood for a big dinner, so he thought a sandwich would suffice. Just as he reached for the bread, thunder struck, and another tree fell in the distance.

Peter jumped as he saw the flash. And once again, he was on alert. His hair did its thing, and the eyes followed suit not long after. But this time was different. Peter decided to go on patrol. He searched every room of the house, checked every lock available. He even looked in the small attic that was never open. Nothing. Peter went back into the kitchen to finish his sandwich and calm himself down, when all of a sudden, he heard a knock at the door. Peter was confused. "It's raining. Who would be outside at this time of night?" Peter began to walk towards the door, shotgun in hand, and he shouted through the door, "Who is it?!"

No answer. Maybe they didn't hear him. So, he shouted a little louder. "Who is it!?"

"It's Jake! Let me in!" It was Peter's brother, Jake. Peter didn't know what he was doing so far from home at this hour, in this weather, but he was ready for answers.
