Chapter 1: The Voyage

The sun hung low in the sky, painting the horizon in molten gold and fiery orange as the sleek yacht sliced through the calm ocean waves. The gentle hum of the engine mingled with the rhythmic slap of water against the hull, creating a soothing soundtrack to an afternoon that promised freedom — an escape from the chaos of everyday life.

Seven people crowded the deck, their voices mixing in laughter, playful teasing, and the clinking of glasses. Three girls and four boys, strangers bound together by chance, circumstance, and the desire to leave their troubles behind.

Lena stood near the bow, the salty breeze teasing loose strands of her dark hair across her sun-kissed face. An artist with a restless soul, she had signed up for this trip hoping to outrun memories she could no longer bear — a painful betrayal, a love lost, and the suffocating walls of the city. The ocean was her chance at a blank slate.

Behind her, Mark leaned casually against the railing, exchanging jokes with two other boys. A successful businessman, Mark was used to control — controlling deals, controlling people, controlling his own carefully crafted image. But here, he wanted to taste something unpredictable, to feel raw emotion beyond the boardroom.

Jade flitted between groups like a spark — wild and untamed, her emerald eyes blazing with a rebellious fire. An adventurer by heart and an escapee from a stifling family life, she craved freedom and passion, no matter the cost.

Ryan, the quiet one, lingered near the stern. A writer seeking inspiration, he was haunted by self-doubt and loss. This trip was meant to ignite his creativity, but the silence inside him was deeper than the ocean. The others — Tom, Luke, and Mia — were friends from the city, escaping together for one last wild weekend before life pulled them apart. Their laughter was loud, their faces bright, but beneath the surface were cracks — jealousy, secrets, unspoken rivalries.

Mark raised his glass with a grin. “To unexpected adventures.”

They clinked glasses — a toast to new beginnings, none of them knowing how quickly the adventure would spiral into something far more primal.

As the sun slipped lower, casting long shadows across the deck, Lena moved to the railing, staring out at the endless expanse of water. The gentle sway of the yacht matched the steady pounding of her heart.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Mark’s voice came from beside her.

She nodded. “It is. But also a little terrifying. The ocean is so vast. So... unknowable.”

Mark’s gaze followed hers. “That’s part of the thrill. The unknown.”

Jade appeared again, balancing a bottle of wine and several glasses. “Thrills sound good to me. Let’s make tonight unforgettable.”

Lena felt a sudden spark — part challenge, part invitation. She was tired of playing safe.

As night fell, the seven shared stories under a sky thick with stars. Each laugh and secret chipped away at the walls they’d built. Glances lingered longer. Touches brushed closer.

But beneath the surface, a tension simmered — unspoken desires, past wounds, and secrets waiting to unravel.

Without warning, the horizon darkened. Heavy clouds rolled in, swallowing stars and casting an ominous shadow.

“Storm’s coming,” Mark muttered, voice low.

Jade’s grin faltered. “We should head below deck.”

Lena’s pulse quickened. The sudden shift in atmosphere mirrored the knot in her stomach.

The wind picked up, whipping through their hair and sending chills down their spines. The yacht groaned under nature’s threat, its calm façade cracking.

Rain began to fall in harsh sheets, lightning splitting the sky.

Inside, the seven scrambled to secure the boat. Commands mixed with shouted warnings. The storm was no longer a distant threat — it was a living, breathing force intent on destruction.

Lena clutched the railing, muscles tensed, heart racing. She caught Mark’s eye — a flash of fear and something darker.

“Hold on!” Jade yelled over the roar.

The yacht lurched violently. Waves crashed over the deck like angry fists.

In that chaotic instant, everything changed.

The world spun, twisted, and then went black.

Only four would live through the night — three boys and one girl. The rest were swallowed by the merciless sea, leaving behind secrets that would haunt the survivors forever.
