Chapter 1 : The trip
If we had known what was waiting beyond that cave…
we would have never entered.
The last class of the semester ended with the loud ringing of the bell. Students quickly packed their bags and rushed out of the classroom, excited that the holidays had finally started.
Amy closed her notebook and stretched her arms. “Finally,” she said with a tired smile. “No more exams.”
Felix leaned back in his chair and laughed. “Two months of freedom,” he said. “What are you going to do now? Sleep for the entire vacation?”
“Honestly… that sounds perfect,” Amy replied.
Just then, Sandra walked toward their table holding her phone.
“Or,” she said, placing the phone in front of them, “we could do something more interesting.”
Ryan leaned closer to see the screen. It showed a picture of tall mountains covered in green trees and a narrow path leading into the forest.
“Where is this?” he asked.
“A hiking place about six hours from here,” Sandra said. “There’s a waterfall, a forest trail… and some caves nearby.”
Neel raised his eyebrow. “Caves?”
“Relax,” Sandra laughed. “It’s a tourist place. People go there all the time.”
Felix smiled. “So you're suggesting a trip?”
“Exactly,” Sandra replied. “Three days. Just the five of us.”
For a moment everyone was quiet.
Then Amy smiled.
“You know what?” she said. “Let’s do it.”
Ryan nodded. “I’m in.”
“Same,” Neel added.
Felix stood up and picked up his bag. “Then it’s settled. Three days in the mountains.”
None of them knew that this simple decision—just a small trip with friends—would soon change their lives forever.
Because somewhere deep in those mountains… something was waiting.
Something hidden beyond a cave.
