Introduction & Prologue

There are two kinds of love stories.

The ones that begin with fireworks.

And the ones that begin in silence.

This is the second kind.

He was twenty-two when she first loved him.

He was twenty-nine when he finally saw her.

And by then, she was no longer the girl who waited.

Seven Years Ago

Tara — Age 18

I don’t remember the first time I saw him.

I remember the first time I noticed him.

There’s a difference.

He was standing near the library stairs, arguing about constitutional interpretation like it was a battlefield.

Calm. Precise. Slightly arrogant.

Everyone listened.

Not because he was loud.

Because he was certain.

Reyansh Oberoi.

Final year law student.

Gold medalist.

Unreachable.

I was just another junior walking past with borrowed books and too much ambition.

He never noticed me.

But I noticed everything.

The way he adjusted his watch before speaking.

The way he never laughed fully — just a corner smile.

The way girls admired him openly, and he remained unaffected.

I didn’t plan to like him.

It happened quietly.

Like ink spreading across paper.

I never spoke to him properly.

Never confessed.

Never even gave myself the luxury of hope.

I just… wrote about him.

In a diary.

Under one simple line:

4th February 2019

My first love.

He never knew.

And eventually, he left.

Graduated.

Built his career.

Moved forward.

And I learned something important.

Loving someone silently is not romantic.

It is lonely.

So I stopped.

Or at least—

I thought I did.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
