STORMS BEHIND SMILES
I keep asking, “Why do people pretend?”
And now, I’ve seen it for myself—
how ironic it all is.
People say they’re fine,
while their voices crack between the words.
They wear smiles that don’t reach their eyes,
hiding quiet storms inside.
They tuck their feelings behind careful smiles,
too afraid to let them escape.
Deep down, all they want is someone
who will sit with them in silence—
someone who listens without judgment.
