Summary

Julie Sterling has the gift & ability to soul travel in her sleep. Once her head hits that pillow & falls into a deep slumber, her soul leaves her body & she wakes up in what she thinks is a totally different dimension. Each day she grows & every time she sleeps, her out of body experiences intensify. The places she's seen are unlike any place she's seen when awake. The souls she's met & continues to meet are different in the best way possible. Julie knows no one would ever believe her unless they've seen it all for themselves. Although, if someone were to believe her, It'd definitely feel like a huge weight lifted off her shoulder. Not only a relief...but a miracle even. Her question is "why?" Why her? Why was she chosen to have such a gift & why can't she seem to meet anyone who shares the same ability? Julie also finds it interesting that the souls she's interacted with in these different dimensions have never been seen by her in real time. What if that's all about to change? What if she finally gets a chance to come across in real time someone she's been connecting with in her sleep for a while now? Do they share the same ability? Will the two of them find out why they were brought together in real life?

Chapter 1

"So, how have things been with you lately?" asks Elijah after taking a sip of his almond coffee.

Elijah Hewston. A dear friend I've met the very first time my soul travelled. I'll never forget that night as I remember every detail vividly. I was only 12 years old when I had my first out of body experience. I remember being completely shaken up by confusion as I had absolutely no idea where I was or what was happening to me. I also remember lying down in an unfamiliar field with a huge tree behind me. While taking in my surroundings, there were no buildings or houses in sight. I guess that's what made things extra cryptic as being in the middle of nowhere didn't help the situation. That was until I saw him. That was until I met Elijah. Looking up and admiring the pretty blue sky, I noticed someone blocking the sun that was shining on my face. There he was standing right over me. "Hey, are you okay?" he asks as our eyes connect for the first time. Elijah has the deepest blue eyes you'll ever see. You can definitely get lost in them. It's amazing how a quick peek of them gives you a sense of peace, a sense of tranquillity. Honestly, just being in his presence is the most calming feeling ever. "Where am I?" I ask sitting up. "If I had even the slightest idea, you'd be the first one to know." he replies, taking a seat on the grass next to me. "All I know is that every time I sleep, this is where my soul takes me and I don't even know why." he explains looking down and picking at strands of grass. "So...what you're telling me is that my soul left my body to come to a place I've never even seen before? You really expect me to believe that?" I ask in disbelief thinking how psychotic this guy sounds. "I know it sounds crazy but I do know for a fact that we aren't dreaming because like I said before...I've been here more than once." he says as he looks up at me trying to study every detail of my face. I can't lie, he flustered me a little. You can't blame me though as Elijah is just so naturally attractive. At least I've always thought so.

"Earth to Julie!" Elijah says as he starts to swing his hand near my face trying to snap me out of my thoughts. Surprisingly, it worked. I tend to get lost in thought when I'm anxious or worried about something. Losing focus is unfortunately a bad habit of mine "What's got you so lost in thought over there?" He asks, giving me a small smirk. "Oh shit, sorry." I mumble, giving my eyes a good rub. "I'm just a little nervous because when I wake up, I have to make sure I ace a math test. I don't want to have to take summer school, especially since graduation is coming up soon." I say, frowning at the idea of failing my last year of school. "Is that really what's worrying you? We both know you'll pass that test with flying colours just as you always do." he says, giving me some motivation. Elijah really is the best. He always knows what to say at the right moment. "Easy for you to say! You're a pro at math." I say, whining like a small child. "I'm a pro at everything." he replies in a cocky but joking tone. "Elijah you're so lucky I tolerate you." I say shaking my head but also letting out a small chuckle. "Tolerate? Admit it already, you loooove me." he replies, still teasing me. All joking aside, if only he knew how much love I actually do have for him. I care so much about him as he does for me. He also didn't have to stick by me all these years if he didn't want to. I'll never not feel grateful for him and the protection he's given me. I just hope I'm able to do the same for him.

Before I'm able to say anything else to Elijah, my eyes open and I find myself lying in bed. "Shit." I mumble to myself as my alarm goes off. The "real world" is the last place I want to be right now. I wish my soul travelling lasted longer than just a night's sleep, especially since I only get a couple hours a night. As much as I love soul traveling, I struggle trying to get myself to sleep as my mind likes to wander at night unfortunately. I usually fall asleep by 2am but have to make sure I'm up at 6 for school. I can't afford to miss classes this year.

As I procrastinate getting out of bed, I can't help but think about my soul travel before waking up this morning. I let out a small chuckle to myself as I can tell that my soul just absolutely loves travelling to a certain someone often. I wish I knew why though. An out of body experience is always different for everyone. With me, I'm able to remember places, faces and some feelings I've felt. The only thing I can't seem to remember when I wake up are names. Not being able to remember a soul's name really sucks, especially if I feel close to them.

Snapping me out of my thoughts, I hear my phone buzz. I turn it over to see that it's a text from my best friend Oliver.

"Gooood Morning bestie...ready for the math test? I'm definitely not lol. I feel like skipping so bad today but my grade is already dropping drastically :("

I send him a quick text back as I slowly start getting out of bed to get ready for school.

"Morning Oli :) That's a silly question, we both know I'm never ready for a test. I'll meet you at Chloe's house by 7 so we can make it to school before 8. See you soon bestie."

Chloe is another close friend of mine. The three of us met in elementary school and made a pact to always stay friends no matter how tough things got. If it weren't for our friendships, I wouldn't have been able to make it through high school. I love them. I also love the fact that I'm able to share my gift with them without being judged even if they truly don't believe in soul travelling.

Setting my phone back down on my bed, I decided to take a quick shower before getting dressed for the day.
