Chapter 1
Time waits for no one, and life in a big city takes a lot of it, but finding love takes even more. You’d think love would slow everything down but it doesn’t. It only makes the day seem shorter, like they’re slipping through your fingers before you can hold onto a single moment. On the neon street where everything is moving, where nights seem endless and footsteps are always heard, is Tokyo. Somewhere in that city is a girl named Aerida who is always surrounded by the crowd, yet somehow only ever hearing one voice among them all.
As Aerida started to walk, she let the sound of the city dissolve into something she could control. A city pop song played in her earbuds wrapping around the noise outside. The noises smoothed down into rhythm instead of chaos. The noisy city ended up being not so bad.
Many people passed by her, a man checking his phone, a couple walking too close to each other to notice anything else, and a few others that seemed to be ordinary people. Everyone was going somewhere. Aerida just moved with them and followed along. It wasn’t towards anything particular but she did follow them.
