Chapter 1: The Girl Without A wolf
The night every werewolf prayed for had finally come.
It was the night Selene feared the most.
The training ground echoed with cheers.
One after another, teenagers stepped into the center of the field. As the full moon rose higher, their bodies trembled, bones shifted, and powerful wolves emerged beneath the silver light.
The pack erupted in applause.
“Another one!”
“She’s finally shifted!”
Selene stood at the edge of the crowd, forcing herself to clap with everyone else.
Her smile never reached her eyes.
“Look who’s watching again,” a girl whispered loudly enough for everyone to hear.
“The girl without a wolf.”
Laughter spread through the crowd.
Selene lowered her head, pretending the words didn’t hurt.
She had heard them for years.
Cursed.
Weak.
Worthless.
At eighteen, every werewolf was supposed to meet their wolf.
But she never had.
Not once.
An elder stepped forward, his voice carrying across the field.
“Everyone has shifted… except one.” the elder announced.
Silence.
Dozens of eyes turned toward Selene.
She wished the ground would swallow her whole.
“Step forward.”
Her legs refused to move.
“Now.”
Taking a slow breath, Selene walked into the center of the training ground.
The moonlight bathed her face.
Everyone waited.
Nothing happened.
No pain.
No transformation.
No wolf.
Only silence.
Someone laughed.
Another joined.
Soon the entire field echoed with mocking voices.
“I told you she’s human!”
“She doesn’t belong here!”
“Throw her out!”
Selene clenched her fists until her nails dug into her palms.
She wouldn’t cry.
Not here.
Not in front of them.
Then…
A cold wind swept through the field.
The moonlight brightened.
For a split second…
A voice whispered inside her mind.
“They are wrong.”
Selene froze.
She looked around.
No one else seemed to hear it.
Somewhere in the darkness, a pair of golden eyes slowly opened.
