Chapter 1
Isabella age 14
I am in my own personal bathroom upstairs, I'm wearing a black dress with matching heels and my blonde hair is pulled up into a bun. My face is makeup free, due to all of the crying that I have been doing recently.
" Bella, sweetheart. Are you in there?" My stepfather, Alexander Wilson or 'alex' as he likes to be called by those closest to him.
"I will be there in a minute, Alex!" I called back to him. splashing some cold water on my face before quickly drying it, opening the bathroom door afterwards.
"Are you ready?" Asked Alex, offering his hand out to me for me to take.
He was wearing a button down dress shirt with black dress pants a long black tie, and a suit jacket and dress shoes to match.
We got into Alex's black SUV and made our way to the church, wear my mother's funeral service was being held.
"Hello, sweetheart. How are you holding up?" My mother's best friend, Linda Caldwell a.k,a. Aunt Linda asked me once she approached us.
"As good as I can, aunt Linda. As good as I can." I informed her. She reached out, wrapping her arms around me in a loving hug.
"How are you?" I returned the question. "Like you said, as good as I can do." She replied before walking to her seat.
We followed suit because not long after that the service had begun.

•the burial.•
"Friends. Family, and loved ones. We are gathered here today to say goodbye to a beautiful soul, Anna Beth glass."
The priest began his speech. ..." Anna was a loving mother, sister, daughter and best friend." He continued on.
"We lost her to a tragic accident a few weeks ago,"
" But we know she is at peace now. with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ." He reminded us.
The eulogies continued with everyone that my mother knew and loved making a speech. Until, finally! It was over with.
"I miss you so much, mom." I said to her headstone as I lightly ran my fingers over it.
"It's still so hard to believe that you are gone and never coming back." I said as tears began to roll down my face.
"I will miss you for as long as I live." I told her headstone.
Suddenly, I felt a large, warm hand wrapped around my shoulder. It was Alex, he had a worried expression on his face when I looked up at him.
"It's starting to rain, sweetheart. I think that we should get going." Alex explained, holding an umbrella.
"Okay." I agreed standing up from my spot on the ground, walking beside Alex toward the car.
"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Asked Alex, once we were seated into the car.
"No," I replied. "But I will be. " I finished, turning to smile at Alex.
Little did I know in that moment, that would be the last time that Alex and I would have a normal, father/ daughter like moment.
To be continued.
