Chapter 1 her sunshines
Every step Mia took felt heavier than the last. Her body ached, but it was her heart that hurt the most. She had promised herself years ago that she would never sell her body, yet life had broken every promise she had ever made.
Tears of shame and disgust filled her eyes as she stared at her reflection. They threatened to fall, but she refused to let them.
She hated her body.
She hated her face.
Mia was a stunning and beautiful young woman with long, dark hair that fell softly around her shoulders. She had a delicate face, a small nose, soft lips, and a beautiful smile.
Her big, round eyes made her look innocent. She possessed a natural beauty that did not come from makeup or skincare. She was neither too thin nor too full-figured, with gentle curves that suited her perfectly. Although she was twenty-four years old, she looked much younger than her actual age. Her appearance was simple and graceful, giving her a youthful charm.
The beautiful dress she wore hid all the pain inside her. Tonight, she had been with an old man she could barely bring herself to look at. She wanted to scream, to run away, but she couldn't.
She had only one reason to endure this humiliation.
For one person.
Her little sunshine.
For that one person, she was willing to endure every humiliation. She would even sacrifice everything, including her own happiness.
Thinking of her little sunshine, she felt she had regained the strength she thought she had lost. She gently wiped away her tears and stepped out of the room.
Just as she was about to leave, something caught her eye.
She slowly turned back.
Her gaze fell on the huge bed.
Every instinct told her not to look.
But she ignored it.
The moment her eyes fell on the crumpled sheets, she instantly regretted turning back.
They were enough to remind her of what had happened only moments ago.
A wave of shame washed over her.
She quickly looked away.
Without another glance, she stepped out of the room.
Keeping her head lowered, Mia simply wanted to leave.
Without another glance, she stepped out of the room.
She quickened her pace.
She didn't want to attract anyone's attention.
Attention always came with a price.
"Mia."
She heard a voice call her name.
She turned around and saw it was Samuel, her friend and manager.
"Your commission is ¥50,000 yuan," he said.
She felt uncomfortable but still managed to force a smile.
"Thank you... Thank you so much."
A faint smile appeared on her face.
She wasn't proud of the money.
It wasn't earned with pride, but she knew why she was doing it.
Her little sunshine.
"Mia..."
Samuel called again, but he didn't continue immediately.
He lowered his eyes before looking back at her. His lips parted as though he wanted to say something, but no words came out. For a few moments, he remained silent.
Finally, he took a quiet breath.
"The man you entertained..." he paused once again before continuing. "...gave you an extra ¥100,000 yuan."
Mia lowered her eyes.
She didn't know what to say.
Silence filled the space between them.
Samuel quietly held out the envelope.
Mia stared at it for a long moment.
Slowly, she reached out with a trembling hand.
The moment her fingers touched the envelope, her body trembled.
Her mind drifted back to what had happened only moments ago.
"Mia..."
Samuel's voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
"Are you okay?"
She blinked and looked at him.
"...Yes."
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
She quietly accepted the envelope.
"Thank you," she said, forcing another smile.
"Thank you."
Samuel gave a slight nod.
"You can go and change."
"Yes," Mia replied.
A few minutes later, after changing her clothes, Mia picked up her bag and quietly left the organization without looking back.
She stopped a passing vehicle and got in.
Looking at the envelope in her hands, she thought money could pay the bills.
But it could never wash away the shame it brought.
She slowly closed her eyes.
She would never...
Never forgive the man who made it happen.
The one who started it all.
