Chapter 1
Once upon a time, in a small village tucked beneath lush green hills and beautiful forests filled with flowers…
There lived a young knight, named Sir Alfred Veryan.
His armor gleamed in the sun as he lay in grass with his horse. Named Valiant, she was strong, swift and loyal.
The villagers admired him, not only for his courage but for his kindness and care for all creatures, especially his horse.
On the bright morning, a great roar shook the village of Hillcrest!
Smoke spiraled from the hills above…
The princess, with hair like spun gold. Reft by the dragon of Hillcrest!
Without hesitation! Sir Alfred Veryan mounted Valiant and raced toward the hills.
They entered the forest first, a place of whispered legends. The trees themselves seemed alive, twisting branches to block the path, roots snaring at their hooves; but Alfred leaned close to his horse, guiding Valiant with a quiet confidence.
The horse leapt, ducked, and galloped through every challenge as if they were one mind. Birds scattered and leaves rustled in applause as knight and steed emerged unscathed.
Beyond the forest lay a molten plain, where lava flowed from tiny rumbling volcanoes.
The heat pressed down like a living weight. Alfred encouraged Valiant onward, hopping across cooled rock, ducking erupting flames, careful with every step. Together they survived the fiery tests.
Next came a frozen storm. Heavy hail fell, slow and sharp. Alfred bent low, shield raised, guiding his horse through the icy arrows with steady hands. Each dodge, a step, a dance of precision and courage.
At last.
They reached a wide grassy field.
Alfred let Valiant rest, brushing sweat from Valiant’s brow.
They gazed at the spiral mountain rising beyond, crowned in mist and jagged rock.
Alfred left his horse to rest and began the climb.
