Self Doubt

Summary

Ariya, a 17-year-old girl, has been stuck in the world of drugs since she was just 5 years old, introduced to them by her own mother who was already deep in her addiction. When she was 8, her aunt found out and got her into rehab, but after something traumatic happened, Ariya ended up right back where she started. Now she knows how to hide it. She takes just enough to keep people off her back. It already ruined her last relationship. Her boyfriend left when she chose "drugs over him". Honestly, Ariya's fine with being alone. At least that's what she tells herself. That is... until she meets Egypt. Egypt, a 16-year-old basketball player, has always stayed in his own lane. After bouncing through foster care and finally getting raised by his uncle, he keeps his circle tight with his boys Brandon and Daquan. He don't really mess with girls from the south side. They come with too much drama, and he's not tryna get caught up. But then there's Ariya. She's different. And not in the "good girl" way either. They clash the second they meet. She's cold, he's stubborn, and they both got too much going on to like each other. But somehow, the more they cross paths, the more the hate turns into something else. First respect. Then friendship. Then something deeper.

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel

bushbaby: Really fantastic book, despite the MFC background it felt like a satisfying, almost cheesy happy book. While her background is a challenge in itself, I would have loved to see some other challenge the couple had to overcome or even the clan to lean into the bear side more. Silver's Second Chance

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.

Welded Shut

Mara Sandrou: Great writing in this one! The story is a bit flat plot wise, giving all the attention to the emotional plot and domesticity as a happily ever after and I'll take it.
