that one stormy night

it was a cold, rainy night in hogwarts. everyone were resting or studying, the castle was quiet.

severus snape had went out a few hours prior to go fetch some ingredients for his potion making lessons the next day. he was sure he would return before the storm starts but he was out very late and by the time he returned it was already storming and raining heavily. he had got lost due to it being so dark and he had start to shiver uncontrollably. he collapsed to the ground, weakly trying to cover the ingredients in the basket so that they wont get ruined.

**harry potter was his least favorite student. in fact he literally HATED harry. harry was known throughout hogwarts for causing chaos specially for snape, harry had made snape loose his temper in seconds and he had almost him for it!!**

harry was walking around as he was unable to sleep but then he saw snape crouching down, so not to be caught by snape and scolded again he hide behind a pillar and looked at him. but snape be snape even being close to hypothermia he sensed someone was watching him. his head snapped in the direction of the faintest rustle of movement. he knew that kind of stealth--or lack thereof--- perfectly well.

Even as his teeth chattered and his soaked robes clinging to his shivering frame, a familiar, and bitter contempt flashes in his dark eyes "well?" he sneers, his voice hoarse but still laced with venom "have you come to gloat potter!! or simply watch me freeze to death?"

harry chuckled softly "you are freezing professor snape" moving towards him where he is crouching in rain "but still your sharp tongue is working as always" standing in front of him looking down at him "and your sense are working as properly too as well to recognise that its me".

rainwater was runing from snape's dark hair onto his face and he had to stayed half-crouched beside the basket, one gloved hand still covering the ingredients. for a second, irritation overtook the exhaustion. "obviously, potter. even half-conscious, i can recognize that insufferable voice" he tried to stand but nearly slipped in the mud making harry laugh. his shoulder had taken the hit of the impact from the low stonewall beside because of the slip. the sharp movement drawed a sharp breath from him before he buries it under annoyance "do stop looking so entertained" his eyes narrowed at harry through the rain. "unless your nightly wandering now includes rescuing professors from hypothermia". the sarcasm landed weaker than usual. his hands were trembling badly now, cold seeping into his bones through his soaked fabric.

somewhere farther down the grounds, the faint lantern- light of filch moves between the trees, slow and distant. harry saw it and hurriedly helped snape stand "shit, filch is coming this way" and left from there towards the lakeside cabins half-carrying snape before filch could see.

harry's grip had caught him before his knees could buckle or give out again. snape stiffens immediately at the contact but before he could realise he was already being walking reflexively with harry's help. rain was lashes across the grounds as both of them moved quickly alongside in the dark path towards the lake. "potter!!---slow down" he mutters breathlessly and sharp, though his weight is already leaning heavier against harry than he would ever willingly allow.

behind both of them, filch's lantern swings farther away through the rain and mrs. norris lets out an irritated yowl somewhere near the courtyards, distracted by something else. the small lakeside cabin come in view through the misty downpour, one dim light glowing behind fogged windows. hargrid's deep laughter rumbles faintly from inside, mixed with the scarpe of a chair. snape notices it at the same moment when they are too close to the cabin and his mouth tightens visibly "wonderful" he says dryly and breathlessly "if hagrid sees me like this, the entire staff will know by breakfast".

harry took him to the farther away abandoned cabin sitting litte away the lake "dont worry hagrid wont see you like this " it was hidden behide the crooked trees and tall grass. one shutter bangs softly in the wind. they both enter the cabin and locks the door securely while snape tries to steady himself against the wall. inside the cabin it smells of damp wood and old smoke. water was dripping steadily from the edge of his sleeves onto the warped floorboards.

"you know an alarming number of places students are not supposed to know about" he said with uneven breaths as he lowered the basket onto the table, immediately checking the soaked cloth covering the potion ingredients. his hands were still shaking badly to untie it properly which made irritation flash across his face at the loss of control.

**snape thought in his mind --- potter dragged him through the rain like this here , merlin it was too humiliating**

outside, distant thunder rolls over the lake and cabin creaks quietly around both of them.

snape looked at harry who was looking around "is there firewood stack around here" he asked in curtly, turning to glance at the cold hearth "or was your brilliant plan simply to hide until i freeze to death??"
