[Yandere] The Obsessive Madman Behind Wall 1
The air in the bedroom grew thick and heavy, to the point where every breath felt like inhaling tiny shards of glass. The dim, yellow light of the nightlamp cast onto the wall, stretching the wardrobe's shadow into an eerie, gangly figure—like a creature waiting to strike.
I clutched the cold phone in my palm. The black screen reflected a pale face and wide, panic-stricken eyes. No signal. No Wi-Fi. Every connection to the outside world had been completely severed right at midnight.
And then, that sound rang out again.
Knock... knock... knock.
The knocking didn't come from the main entrance of the apartment. It came from behind the bedroom wall—a space that should have been empty air, or the neighboring unit abandoned months ago. Steady, slow, and hauntingly spine-chilling.
"Y/n... Are you still awake? The light in your room is still creeping through the door frame. Be a good girl and open the door for me. It's freezing out here."
That voice... Declan's deep, warm tone—so familiar it felt sickening—sounded right beside my ear, even though I knew for a fact he couldn't possibly be standing there. Declan was downstairs, wasn't he? Or had he...
I bolted up from the bed, but my legs trembled so violently they couldn't hold me, and I collapsed onto the freezing hardwood floor. Memories of the past few days rushed back like a slow-motion horror film: the gifts neatly placed on my desk despite locked doors, the candid photos of me sleeping sent through an anonymous app, and the obsessively infatuated, unhinged look in Declan's eyes every time his hand accidentally brushed my shoulder.
"No way... I locked every single door." I muttered, a shaky voice forcing its way out of my dry throat.
Knock... knock... knock. The knocking was a bit more urgent this time, laced with a sickeningly sweet impatience.
"Are you hiding from me, Y/n? Why hide from the person who loves you most in this world? You know, I just checked your browser history. You were looking at plane tickets to another city, weren't you? Trying to leave me? You're so mean... But it's okay, I've already canceled all the flights. You can only stay here. With me, forever."
The blood in my veins ran cold. The sensation of an invisible pair of eyes locked onto my every move sent a chill straight down my spine. I dragged my heavy body toward the wardrobe where the noise originated. My hand trembled violently as I reached for the half-closed wooden door.
If I opened it, what would be waiting inside? Clothes soaked in his scent? Or Declan himself, smiling a twisted smile, eyes dark and sunken from sleeplessness and sheer obsession?
Suddenly, the doorknob outside the bedroom began to turn.
Click... click...
The sound of metal grinding in the dead of night struck like a sledgehammer against my collapsing sanity. The lock was slowly giving way. The faint light from the hallway spilled inside, dragging along the silhouette of a tall figure stepping into the room.
I backed away until my spine pressed flat against the icy wall. Darkness swallowed the room, and Declan’s footsteps drew closer—slow, steady, like the ticking clock of the Grim Reaper.
