Chapter 1
Lena POV
I grew up in a small town, where everyone knows everyone, your business is everyone’s business.
My parents were quite popular, my dad is the sheriff, my mom the school teacher, my younger brother is an eight years old boy who loves football . So , yeah everybody knows about us more than we like to admit. Most times it’s tiring but it is what it is.
My mom always tells us that she wanted to become an actress or a model, she definitely has a good body for it. She loves fame, the attention we get from the town my mom loves it but my dad hates the attention he wants a private life where no one knows his business but then they love each other but sometimes love is never enough.
Sometimes I wonder if that is possible different ambition, different way of life. It makes me wonder if they would have still been together if mom did not get pregnant when she was sixteen years old.
“Babe, why is dinner not ready?” I heard dad says
“Come on , Jason , you know I have to dye my hair before tomorrow. I need to change my look and also get new clothes.” Mom says
“I don’t care if you have to dye your hair or get new clothes , your kids have not eaten and we don’t earn enough to keep getting you new clothes every week.”
“They are also your kids Jason , so why don’t you go into the kitchen to make something for them and yourself because I am not eating dinner , I have to make sure my body looks good. “
“Why Jain ? Why?” I could hear the pain in his voice.
“I gave up my teens for you guys Jason, come on, a girl has to leave her life. I remember you telling me . Don’t worry baby , I am going to pull out ‘ and here I am already popped two kids for you. It’s all your fault Jason. “ she said with so much regret in her voice.
“Kids time for dinner. Make sure to wash your hands.”
Dad call out like nothing happened in the kitchen thirty minutes ago.
“Last person to get down is an asshole.” My brother, Roy , said and runs down.
“You are the asshole , Roy and you are cheating.” I said running after him.
Dad smiles when he sees us . His eyes shines with lots of love.
“Kids behave yourselves and pumpkin say the grace .”
We ate in peaceful.
“Dad , where is mom?” Roy said
I saw dad froze for a second like he expected the question but had not thought of the answer .
“She is probably at sleep Roy and know mom doesn’t eat much.” I answered
Dad looks at me with gratitude in his eyes like I just saved him from his worst nightmare.
“Bedtime kids”
After saying our prays
“Good night daddy’s pride, remember daddy loves you always.”
“We love you too daddy.”
We said in union as dad clears the dining.
