Chapter 1: First Day
He hadn't slept well for a while.
He climbed out of bed and planted his feet on the floor for the first time since arriving here.
The room was in terrible condition. Several boxes lay scattered in the corners, some left open to reveal personal belongings such as books, an umbrella, and clothes. The once-white walls had turned grey in places, their surfaces stained with dust and grime. Dirt coated nearly every corner, giving the room a neglected appearance, as though no one had bothered to clean it in years.
He felt frustrated by the condition of the house.
Whyyyy? I hate having to fix everything.
Still, he prepared a simple breakfast. There was nothing more than a slice of bread with some jam, an apple, and a glass of milk on the side.
He ate alone in silence.
As he ate, several thoughts began to creep into his mind. He wasn't sure whether moving to another country, so far away from Europe, had been the right decision.
"Why am I like this?" His face revealed a mixture of curiosity and sadness. "Should I stop researching about...?"
He paused for a moment before answering his own question.
"Definitely not. I love it."
He picked up his school bag, which contained items such as a pencil box, books, and notebooks for various subjects, along with essentials like a water bottle, geometry box, and calculator. But unlike everyone else's bag, he had something unusual inside it: a drone.
However, within a short period of time, he found himself standing in front of the school.
Without thinking much, he went inside, but he couldn't stop himself from looking around. Just like an ordinary school, this one was quite large, with walls lined with windows. A garden beside the school gave it a lively atmosphere.
Students walked past him in neat, predominantly navy-blue uniforms. Their outfits followed a Western style, with blazers and shirts for the winter and lighter shirts for warmer weather.
He remained calm, even though he still hadn't adapted to this style of uniform, despite having been here for three days.
Eventually, he entered his classroom.
The classroom was already quite noisy and lively before he entered, yet it wasn't in complete chaos. Some students were chatting with friends, while others were studying amidst the din.
But when the students noticed him, the atmosphere immediately shifted toward him. He was from Europe, unlike the other Koreans. He was also quietly famous among them.
"H-hi... Nice to meet you... Ent," one of his friends said in English, even though he had already been told that Ent could understand Korean.
For a moment, Ent simply stared at him.
Again?
He had explained countless times that he could speak Korean. And the name? It wasn't even his real name. It was merely a shortened version of his actual name, invented because his friend couldn't be bothered to pronounce it properly.
With a polite smile, he replied, "How many times do I need to tell you that I can understand Korean and that my name is not Ent?"
"Sorry... I guess." His friend rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "But the pronunciation of your name is difficult. So, can I continue to call you Ent?"
Ent's smile held for another second.
Who even says that? Half the world probably struggles to pronounce Korean names correctly, and yet here we are.
He wanted to tell his friend exactly what he thought, but he kept his irritation to himself
"Okay... if you want." Ent answered in a gentle, friendly voice.
With that, he sat down beside the window, leaving the conversation behind him. The morning light fell across his face, warm and gentle.
Ent gazed through the window, watching the students walking around the garden.
For a moment, everything seemed ordinary, until he noticed someone.
Unlike the other students, the person wasn't talking to anyone or heading toward the school entrance. They simply stood there, staring directly at him.
