The Bodyguard Who Didn't Read Contract
“Ms. Yuwisa?”
“Yes,” My body was tense, sitting in front of the old man who was interviewing me.
He slid me a piece of paper. Placed it on the table in front of me.
“Are you sure you want to work as the bodyguard of Mr. Ammon Nick Savero?” The old man's breath sounded heavy.
His gaze did not leave me.
I shifted my gaze to the adult woman standing beside me — the woman who recruited me leaned toward my ear,
“This is the only solution I can give you, Ms. Yuwisa,” her voice was soft, whispering.
I took a long breath, exhaled it slowly. I nodded my head slightly.
No need to read it.
I was ready to accept the risk.
“Yes, Sir. I am sure,” I slid the paper in front of me forward to the old man.
I... really did not read it.
They had already warned me.
I could die at any moment if I worked with Ammon Nick Savero as his protector.
But I no longer cared.
I really wanted to be free from Ethiana.
“If so,” the old man stood up, “Do you want to take the final test before we accept you, Miss?”
My heart was beating fast.
My fingers were trembling.
My knees... were so weak.
Would the final test kill me?
I closed my eyes. Swallowed.
“Yes,” I stood up, “I will take it,” opening my eyes, nodding my head, staring firmly in the direction of the old man.
“Very well,” the old man's smile was thin. His breath of relief exhaled.
“Come follow me,” his shoes moved, tapping the floor of the room.
I turned my body to the woman who recruited me earlier.
“Thank you,” my voice was soft.
The woman whose name I did not know, patted my shoulder with both her hands. Once.
“Good luck,”
I nodded my head then stepped my worn-out shoes forward, toward the old man who was standing in front of the door — waiting for me.
I must be crazy.
Already at the stage of desperation.
Even just accepting advice from a person I did not know, whom I only met on the bus when returning from the market.
I kept following the old man's footsteps, entering into the elevator.
Floor 29.
30
31
32
33
34
35
And it stopped at floor 36.
The sound ting! rang.
The old man's dress shoes stepped out, I followed from behind him.
Turn to the right, go forward... keep going forward, then stop right in front of the door of a room.
That door... was opened.
A young man sat in front of a work desk.
His dark black eyes stared in my direction. Cold. His face was very handsome, but flat.
His jaw was firm, his aura... very mysterious.
The man with an upright body wrapped in an expensive suit... was Ammon Nick Savero — the businessman who is very famous in my city.
Whose name I could only see in the daily news. I had never seen his face before.
“Miss, please come in,” the old man remained standing in front of the door. His gaze toward me, a second later toward the room that was only inhabited by Ammon.
“Okay,”
My trembling knees moved into the inside, walking toward the cold man.
Eleven, twelve steps, my feet stopped.
I bowed my head in front of him. Between us, there was his work desk.
“Come here,” Ammon's index finger pointed toward the area beside his right side.
I nodded my head, moved to that area, and stopped. Still lowering my gaze downward.
Ammon's chair spun, his body facing toward me.
“Kneel,” he ordered. Cold.
If with this way I can be free from Ethiana, by asking for power from Ammon Nick Savero, then... I will do it.
I lowered both my knees. My gaze empty toward his black dress shoes.
Silent.
Quiet.
Only the sound of the AC blowing was heard.
But...
One minute later.
Silent.
The sound of a glass Ting! clinked suddenly. Ammon's hand lifted it. Pouring its contents onto the top of my head. Warm. Sticky.
The liquid flowed down, wetting my temple to my cheek, then to my chin.
Dripping to the collar of my shirt.
The aroma of wine stung my nose.
Thick.
I closed my eyes. My resigned breath reached the ears.
I opened my eyes. Still I stared straight to my front — waiting for the next test.
“Do you still want to protect me?” Ammon's gaze focused toward me. There was a thin satisfied smile, spreading on his face.
"Yes, Sir. I do,"
“I will wait,” his chin lifted up, his eyes cynical, one of Ammon's eyebrows raised up. “Now you may go,”
My head still bowed, my knees straightened back up. I stepped backward, without turning my back to him, then turned to the side — toward the door of the room.
“Good job, Miss,” the old man's voice from the door, was heard.
“Now you have become part of our Team. Come here,”
I turned my face toward him. Beside him there was already a middle-aged man with documents in his hand.
“Please, follow us,” said the middle-aged man.
I was accepted?
After hundreds of application letters were rejected, is it true I was accepted?
My chest trembled.
My eyes were wet, sore and hot.
I blinked my eyes. Over and over again.
I bowed my head, taking a short breath, then straightened my gaze and stepped toward them.
I did not look at Ammon again. As proof that I accepted the test from him.
My shoes moved away, the sound of the door clack! sounded.
I looked back. That door was closed. There was no Ammon Nick Savero visible anymore.
That man... confined himself in a cold room filled with piles of paper.
My steps entered the elevator. The elevator cabin carried me down to the floor from earlier. Walking into the room, and sitting in front of the middle-aged man.
“Please sign this document,” His hand offered a pen toward me. I accepted it.
I scratched a shaped line above my name.
“Please affix your fingerprint,” a box of red ink powder was placed beside me.
I pressed my thumb, I placed it above my name.
One paper finished, another paper was given. Three, four, five papers...
“Accept your bonus,” the middle-aged man placed a platinum ATM card in front of me, continuing with one sheet of paper.
“This is all the facilities you receive while working under the rules of the Savero Group,”
I lifted that paper.
A place to live, food, monthly salary, and other facilities.
My tears fell without me realizing it, wetting that paper.
My chest trembled heavily.
“Huh,” my exhalation reached my ears.
“Ms.Yuwisa?” This middle-aged man's forehead wrinkled.
I gave him a warm smile, shaking my head.
“Thank you for accepting me,”
Finally... Soon I will be free from Ethiana.
Daddy, I have now been accepted for work.
