Prologue
My heels were long abandoned. Despite it being my lifelong companion, heels would only slow me down now.
My bare feet rubbed against the rough asphalt road angrily every time it made contact. Its been 30 minutes.
30 minutes since I've been running.
I was free now. I was away from it all. But the adrenaline refused the leave my system just yet. A part of me still clung to the possibility that I was not far enough.
So I ran.
Even when the oxygen barely entered my lungs. Even when my legs burned and my stomach ached, I didn't stop.
I ran.
I ran as far as my feet took me.
And when the city lights finally came in sight, i collapsed onto the ground. A relieved smile plastered on my face.
I was free.
Finally.
