Chapter 1

In which a woman named Elara is spirited away by means of warping, meats a rather handsome man, and becomes very cold.

Once upon a time a woman named Elara had a great deal of things. A home, a family, a loving father, two loving sisters, a loving mother, and a large amiable dog. Her home was set out in the countryside just outside of Lindsborg, and when she would go into town, buy the same fabrics, minded the dog, and hem her little sisters clothing.

She was normal, and most amiable. Elara had no husband, and was not in any way searching for one. Elara was only in her early twenties and already knew all of the planets, including the most recent Pluto. Discovered a few years before.

Elara loved astronomy, and she aspired to work for NACA. NACA was The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. It had been started in 1915, and was now preparing for the second world war. NACA had just started to expand and testing aircraft. It had grown to around 400 employee's. Elara had been researching NACA ever since she heard of it, which had been in 1928, when she was thirteen.

All of the others girls at school were obsessed with cute boys, the latest movie, or how one got a brand new radio. Never about what Elara wanted to talk about. She would be gossipped about, and her books would be stolen, but she didn't care. Elara had extra books, and felt herself to be invisible to most people, that was, until now.

Everyone was worried about the upcoming war, the tension was throughout the radio news. Elara was going along with the crowd, and made sure to keep herself safe. Though, being in Kansas, most people thought they had nothing to worry about.

Elara knew better, and walked about the streets of Assaria, heading home from her job as a school teacher. She had worked in the district for two years, and had imedietly become the children's favourite teacher. She received letters from parents, and drawings from students, all portraying her as the best teacher they had ever had.

Today was no different, teach the English class, and go home. That's what she was doing, but today, my dear reader, was no ordinary day.

March 17th 1938 something weird happened. A man fell from the sky. Well, not really, a man fell from five feet above the sidewalk. He landed right in front of Elara, and groaned. He had appeared seemingly from nowhere.

The man coughed and spluttered, his broad chest heaving up and down. Elara panicked and knelt by the strange man, "Sir? Sir! Sir are you alright!"

The man coughed and gasped a few times before he spoke, "You try....you try warping without....without permission over eight planets!" It wasn't really a full sentence, the man coughed several times in the sentence, and seemed short of breath.

"Sir-what? Nevermind, let me help you--"

"No! No! I don't...." He coughed again, "need help!"

"Sir, you can't breathe, here, take my hand and-" Elara quickly manuvered her arm under his shoulder and hefted him up. The man promptly got sick.

"Good Grand Gaciius! Can't you see I'm fine?" The man cried, "I've just come from Mercury and man its a swell place, hot though." He began rambling on and on about visits he had just within the day.

Elara, though facinsted, knew that these stories were probably fake, and that she was helping a possibly dangerous person into her home. She got him in the house and onto the sofa.

The man, still mumbling looked around, "Where am I again?"

"Assaria, Kansas. You fell from the sky." Elara replied, adjusting her skirt and hair.

"No no, what planet?" The man out unnecessary emphasis on the word planet, as if he was actually from a very different one.

Elara furrowed her brow and her lips pursed in confusion, "Sir, you are on planet Earth."

The man shot up, suddenly intrigued, "Damn, Earth already? I've just finished with Neptune." He went straight to the bookshelf, which was on the opposite wall, "No wonder the air is so sweet yet bitter," he turned to face Elara, "have you been here long?"

"What? Y-Yes, I have been here for all of my life." Elara wrung her hands nervously, "There's nowhere else in the universe that holds life."

"My dear you are quite wrong," the man grinned, "this universe I'm afraid, is...quite...small. There are many others of course, this galaxy, what do you call it again...starts with a M correct? Might Small? No to awful sounding, Medusa? No...it has something to do with a popular candy, ah!" He snapped his fingers, "The Milky Way!"

Elara was astounded by this man, "How do you not know the name of our galaxy?" She questioned rather rudely.

"Oh, we have a diffeet name for it." He waved his hand abesnt mindedly, "You Eartherners are just an odd bunch. We call this galaxy Mimyrdion. No reason particular, some guy thought it up. Not me, I don't care really. Er- what did you say your name was again?"

"I..I didn't. I don't think you need to know it, but sir--"

"Huges. Mr. Huges. That's my name, don't forget it." Mr. Huges grinned, a toothy grin.

"Right. Mr. Huges, I'm Elara Graves, and I must ask you to stop joking around and explain to me what happened to you." Elara nodded shakily to him, "Why are you dressed like that?"

"Now that, Ms. Graves, is a very rude question. I am dressed in the finest garb Pluto has ever made." Mr. Huges tugged at his silken purple shirt and adjusted his slacks, he sighed, "It's much warner here."

"That's not an--"

"How about this. I show you where I'm from, and you'll experience what happened to me. On exchange for that, you become a scientist of Pluto. I've heard that Earthern science is very much facinating." Mr. Huges clapped his hands together.

"That's quite the story, I cannot come to Pluto. Our science isn't as developed as it could be, and frankly, I'm a school teacher. Not a scientist." Elara took a step back, "Please, take a seat, you must be delarious from a long journey."

"Delarious? Delarious Ms. Graves I must tell you, this isn't anything delarious, how about this. You come with me, see for yourself, and help us in the study of scien-"

"Sir. That is quite enough, I must phone the authorities." Elara went to the first option that came to mind.

"Wait! No, don't do that." Mr. Huges cried grabbing something from his pocket, grabbed her arm, and suddenly Elara felt as if she was turning inside out.

She felt her intestines twist retchedly, the skin on her feet was suddenly on her skull. Her own heart stopped for fear of bursting as the ribcage and lungs threatened to collapse with a great force. Elara did her best to cry out in pain, but her throat squeeze shut and nothing could go through.

Mr. Huges was going through something of the same thing, but less dramatic. His eyes felt like they were becoming putty, his heart and lungs froze in place, and the imense pain he once knew ebbed away with every use of the Warping Device.

Pluto is a small, desolate planet. Just a tad bigger than our large country of Russia. Seemly devoid of all life, for there could not be life on such a cold planet! Of all the places how could one be on Pluto? Well gracious reader, let me enlighten you on the civilization of Pluto.

They call themselves the 'Icinanias.' which means, 'People of ice'. They destroyed the atmosphere around them, throwing the entire planet into ruin. The once lucious oceans were now voids of ice. The once beautiful islands on which they lived became red and barren. They used all of the resources and the once slightly chilly planet they called home was an undiscovered planet of ice.

Humanity was so far behind the curve of the galaxy they didn't even know of Pluto's existence until now. Now in their tiny solar system humanity finally figured out their most important planet. Though they only thought of it as an achievement, not a step forward in time. Of course the Icinanias were majorly upset about this fact. But we're unable to do any lasting damage just yet.

The Icnianais have destroyed their planet and have resorted to living under the surface. They drilled deep into the ice and rock. Deep into the planet they built four connected facilities. Everyone lived in these facilities, and each one is stretched one under the other. The first one to be built became a study center for those who had come off of their normal planets to stay on Pluto. The second was the working unit, for those who do not want to have a family to care for. The working unit was for hard labor, those who were able to haul all kinds of things around. Those who worked in the second unit lived just under the facility. The third is where most of the children come from, some are genetically modified, and some are birthed. It really depends on who you come across. The fourth, and last unit is the unit of families. Some opt to have their children in this sector. This unit is like the neighborhood you and I grew up in, lovely families, a Cul-de-sac the same beige, brick, blue and white houses, family pets, and a happy life.

Although, a lot of that is not true for some. On Pluto there is happy families, happy workers, and an unhappy planet. If we were to talk with the planet it would cry out 'Oh woe is me!' and we would be on our merry ways. For the planet is unheard by its' people.
