Dear, mother I’m having a hard time living with dad. He stays up in his room all day and he’s at work when he’s not in his room. He never talks to me and a few days ago my left eye changed back to red. Luckily I had Nick with me.

Hi, I’m Lunar and I have a split family. I live with my dad so I don’t see my mom often but we still write. My dad also doesn’t talk to me so I have to do things for myself. I’m 14 and in high school, I’m an all a student but then I have nick my crush and best friend and when I was 11 my left eye changed to a blood red and then it went back to ice blue so I have to wear a hospital eye patch so no one sees it nick is the only one that knows.

I’m looking out my window when I see Nick walking by and I’m running out there in my gray and purple sleeveless top and blue jean shorts with my black flats and my anklet. With my long blond hair behind me, I scream nick wait up he slows downs and I say meanie you could have waited. Nick being the jerk he is, says where would be the fun in that cutie. Me liking him my heart flutters but I know he’s joking. I punch in the arm and say stop toying with me. We went to school and I show up and get punched nick is talking to his friend jake so he didn’t see, they grab my eyepatch and I keep my eye closed but then nick sees and runs over and tells jake to grab me and bring me to the nurse office the kid backs away in fear but he’s getting pummeled by nick I being brought to the nurse’s office at that moment.

I’m crying hard my eye is bleeding I blackout the next thing I know is nick is crying at my side holding my hand I touch his face he looks up and kisses me then I freeze and kiss him back my dad stomps into the room and throws nick to the floor and punches and kicks me. I cry, the teacher and a police officer come in and handcuff him. Nick gets back up and picks me up and carries me to his house and sits me down on the bathroom counter and gets a medkit and starts patching me up. I sit there unable to talk.

I felt bad he had to see that I mean I’ve been lying about it for the longest time I wonder if mom will come here for a change she left because he drank too much and hurt her I was always hiding or with nick. She couldn’t take me with her dad wouldn’t let her. He often would come home bloody from his job. I always had to help him. Hey lu, why didn’t you tell me he was hurting you, you always said that it was cause you fell said nick. I’m surprised you called me lu you haven’t called me that since we were kids, I couldn’t tell you anyways it was too risky I didn’t want you to get hurt. I fell asleep in the spear bed he had in his room. He woke me up for school and I changed into a pink dress with a white fur collar and black high heels. My eye changed red again.

nick walked to school with me holding my hand and we arrived at school the girl that I think her name was Jessica anyways she has a crush on nick and nick sits in front of her I sit next to nick I sit on nick desk and he kisses me and Jessica walks over and slaps me and nick steps in she yells why she does get everything I love you nick. He laughs and says you really are just a spoiled rich girl look at your outfit. It was a short skirt, thigh-high, choker necklace, a crop top. Nick pulls me into a hug and tells Jessica to get lost. class starts going by so fast before I know it’s time to go. Nick is carrying me, home moms, outside the door. I run to her and my eye goes back to ice blue. She moved back in.

It very different nick also moved in and I haven't seen my dad in a few months and it does make me wonder what happened to him to make him hurt us like that. I get changed into a mid-thigh black tank dress and on little to no make-up and to try to put on a smile but something in me hurts and it can't be good.
