Chapter 1

“I’ll see you later baby.” My baby boy toddles over to the babysitter I hired for the night.

“Bye Ms. Katz!” The blonde teen waves at me as I walk into the garage. I saw her advertising online and decided she was a perfect replacement for the other babysitter since the other one moved away.

“Bye Lia.” I wave back as I close the door. Opening the garage I sit on my motorcycle and put my helmet on. My brown hair falls down my back and I grin. Turning it on I pull out of the garage and begin the long journey to headquarters.

Finally I reach the dark building. Parking right in front I pass by security and head into the elevator.

As the door is getting ready to close a tall man walks in. He towers over me so I have to look up to see his face but his body looks nice through the tight fitted black suit. As I look up I see his full face looking down at me. His beard is short and stubby while his eyes are a darker shade of green. Black hair is slicked back on top of his head. His jawline is sharp and his whole aura screams power. Something about him looks familiar but I can’t put my finger on it. Suddenly he has a stunned look on his face but it’s quickly replaced by a normal cold look.

“Erica Katz.” He speaks out. The old name brings back all the memories I worked hard to forget. Suddenly I realize where I know this man from. The father of my child.

“It’s Beatrice now. I changed it when I found out about Easton.” I whisper still thinking about everything.

“Whos Easton?” He asks me. I snap out of my haze and look him in his eyes.

“Our son.” I blankly say. The elevator dings open and I go to walk out but I’m pulled into something hard. I quickly realize it’s his chest.

“Why are you here?” He asks.

“Good question. I work here and have for 2 years and I’ve never seen you around so why are you here now?” I shoot back.

“I heard this place has top assassins and I wanted to check them out. Are you like an assistant or something darlin’?” He cockily states.

“I’m one of those “top assassins” in fact I am the top assassin.” Grabbing his arms away from my waist I twist them around before ducking and kicking his ankles making him fall on his ass.

Looking down at him I chuckle. He looks stunned. Quickly getting up he gathered himself together. “Wheres my son at now?” He hisses.

“You mean my son? My son is at home with the babysitter. Not that that’s any of your business.”

“You’ll be moving into my home this week. Go home and pack your shit Beatrice.” He sternly demands.

“I don’t even know your first name. I know nothing about you in fact. All you gave me when we slept together was your last name Mr. Cadell.” I inform him.

“Ezekiel Cadell. Don of the American Mafia. I’ve been looking for you since then but considering you changed your name and got a whole new life I can see why I had a hard time finding you.”

“I didn’t want to be found. You turned my life upside down and made me a mother at 18 years old. You took advantage of me.” Tears threaten to come out my eyes.

“We were both drunk. The only reason I remembered you was because I wasn’t as drunk. You weren’t even of age. What the hell were you doing at that club anyways.” Ezekiel snaps.

“My mom had just left me because my dad disappeared. Vicky took me to the club to make me feel better. I didn’t know I would wound up in your condo. I love my baby boy but that whole night was a mistake!” For the first time in 3 years I cry.

He does something that surprises me. He hugs me tightly. I find myself hugging him back. Suddenly the elevator opens. Turning I see my boss and his assistant. I gather myself together and wipe my face. Facing the two I see looks of confusion. They walk inside and stand next to us.

“I see you’ve met Mr. Cadell, Beatrice. I’d like to hope I wont see you crying on him again.” Owen, my boss sneers.

“Mr. Perez I told you to stop talking to me like that. Remember I don’t need you. Be glad you’re my best friend’s brother because if you weren’t I would have killed you.” I snap at him.

“Hello Mr. Perez.” Ezekiel greets Owen.

“Hello Mr. Cadell, I hope she hasn’t bothered you.” Owen replies.

“She hasn’t. In fact she’s the one I want.” Ezekiel smirks down at me. Owen and his assistant both share a look of shock but quickly snap out of it.

“What do you mean “the one you want”?” I look up at him questioningly.

“You’re gonna be my new personal assassin.”
