The characters react from fear, pride, love, and uncertainty in ways that feel earned rather than convenient. There’s a quiet patience in how the relationship is built—chemistry exists early, but trust, growth, and vulnerability take time. That slow burn feels intentional and rewarding. One of the biggest strengths of this story is how parenthood is written. As a mom to a daughter myself, I cannot overstate how refreshing it is ton see a child written as inconvenient in real-life ways—at the exact moments that feel natural, not plot devices. Holly feels real, lovable, and occasionally disruptive in the best way. Those moments don’t derail the story; they ground it, and I deeply appreciated that level of care and observation. Nicholas is also refreshingly well-written. We get to watch a powerful man wrestle with who he’s been told he is versus who he wants to become. His internal conflict—between control, responsibility, and softness—feels human and relatable rather than performative. The author allows him to grow without making that growth instant or unrealistic. When Noelle’s ex reappears and tries to shrink her back into the version of herself he preferred—small, replaceable, incapable of growth—it’s Nicholas’s reaction that stands out. He hates watching her contort herself to fit someone else’s false narrative. He sees her anxiety and fear and wants something better for her, while understanding he can only meet her where she is. That restraint? Beautifully done.The author does an excellent job portraying a man who is actively deciding who he wants to be, even while the world tells him he doesn’t get to choose. That struggle feels deeply relatable and surprisingly profound. Noelle's anxiety and need for control are handled with empathy. Her fear isn’t framed as weakness but as something understandable, especially given her circumstances. Rather than rushing her healing, the story gives her space to exist where she is, which makes the emotional stakes feel real.The book isn’t finished yet, but I expect Noelle’s growth is coming. She has hard work ahead—learning to release fear, to choose trust, and to accept that other people can love and protect her daughter too. I saw a commenter say they hope Nicholas and Noelle don’t end up together and that he needs someone else. I couldn’t disagree more. People are allowed to grow. Healing doesn’t mean fixing each other—it means creating space for the other person to do their own work. Watching two flawed adults rise above trauma together is kind of the point. And yes—I’m a woman who loves a hard-earned happy ending. Beautiful character work, strong emotional intelligence, and a story that rewards patience. Now please excuse me while I wait impatiently for the next chapter."

Strong Premise, Missing Emotion
" I appreciated the therapy angle and psychological depth and difficulties faced in co parenting angle. However, most emotional conversations happen inside therapy sessions and I rarely felt raw, direct connection between Nicholas and Noelle.Their relationship felt more clinical than passionate and I struggled to feel their love despite the high stakes. I expected more emotional intensity. More unfiltered moments. More tension. More visible longing or conflict. Instead, the repetition of therapy style conversations and restrained communication made it difficult for me to feel their love. I personally wished for deeper chemistry and more emotionally raw interaction between the leads."
