"This book was an awesome and engaging book. It had twists I didn’t expect and lots of growth from the characters. I liked how Silas changed his ways and showed his true colors in the end. I recommend this book to people who love a good fantasy. It was enjoyable and I am so attached. I really did love it. I raised it 5 stars for everything except the grammar. That was a 3. It isn’t bad. Pretty easy to understand. Just some mistakes here and there but that’s expected. I really loved the POVs and the characters. I will think about this book often. Even though this book has grammar it is amazing and I definitely recommend it for the more mature people. It was a honed to be able to read this book. Thank you my dear author. -Madeline locken "

"WOW! Shocking. Outrageous. Dark. Devastating. Treacherous. Traumatising. A story worth a perfect 100/100 score. This one represents an extraordinary fantasy vampire novel, with a great amount of spice and jaw-dropping plot twists (literally). I expected a usual trope of enemies-to-lovers and some light, natural action that wouldn't raise many surprises. However, I had a few moments of fury, confusion and some "WHAT?!" shouts that unsettled my nerves. SILAS' POV WAS OUTRAGEOUSLY PERFECT! I expected something shocking, but that... 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 I felt the urge to take a long breath and steady myself; it was just... WOW!!! It was that thing that CHANGES EVERYTHING, and then everything is changed yet again through other plots that are not fully revealed until the very end. The "trust nobody" advice fits better here than anywhere else. That sickening duty to serve the crown with "blood, pleasure, heirs" awoke some heart-wrecking feelings. It was relatable to the sorrows felt through the books "An Orchid For The Crown" and "The Heir Trials", plus the blood part here. 😭 Yet, Elowen is surely a strong FMC, fighting admirably through everything going on. Instead of emotionally breaking down in sobs and tears, she gracefully accepted her duty, despite the challenges. Though her slap on Silas' face when he claimed her the first time was priceless, memorable nonetheless. And her ability to protect herself after the chaos of Evander's wedding, while experiencing a living hell!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤩🤩🤩 The initial plot with the change of plans (switching the brothers) was mind-blowing. I was wondering what could replace a deal made over years, clearly mismatching the pairs. Or were they mismatched, after all? 🫢 The following twists were way bigger; just when I thought that I understood everybody and that I had reached the pinnacle, another shocking piece of information came, leaving me in complete awe. 🤩 The topic of ruling vampires was scary enough, but the dread was amplified by the Halflight delegation, especially Yavik's infatuation towards the flame-haired heroine. Though the Ravencrest kingdom was organised and conducted by rules and discipline (besides the obvious imminent debauchery, consensual more or less), the Northern kingdoms were pure horror to humans, much to vampires' tastes. However, servants' roles left me stone-cold, but the insane tradition of duty left me speechless: a male vampire having a human woman to procreate children with, and a vampire wife to raise them. Cold, yet as in everyday life, some happy couples got along well (as Vaal's 🙏🏻), while others' lives were pitiful. On the lustful side, I enjoyed the similarity between feedings and intercourse. 🔥 In the consensual times, at least the feedings were sometimes delightful for the vampires as well as for the humans, in an allowed, sensual way, when it didn't go to the extreme. It was tasty, dark and spicy, but Elowen's fainting episode because of the powerful thrusts... wow 🫢 It was also because of the blood fed and everything from that decadent fest, but still. 🔥 Some of Silas' silent acts of care that I simply can't overlook, are: smoothing things with Addy's child, bloodleting Yavik only from talking innapprorietatly to Elowen, train her afterwards, ensuring her non-stop protection, but his dominant ways to claim her, both in private and in front of everyone... 🫠🫠🫠 Intimate examples such as: kissing the punctures that were unwillingly made by others in that horrifying hunt, giving her that gentle bath, and everytime they started blurring the duty of making heirs to making love: Elowen reaching for his hand, with him surrendering her soft pleas and please her repeatedly with that breathtaking "You're mine" attitude filled with filthy praises, convincing her to strandle him to have more control, crashing his lips on hers and all the gentleness of the most intimate scenes. 🥰🥰🥰 Yet, that dominant demeanour, cold as ice, yet willing to satisfy her, making Elowen feel lust in that possessive, hot way before completely surrendering to each other, reminds me a little of the book "Repent and Repeat" (and I read it a year ago, so it was that good to remain in memory). Some of the countless questions that crossed my mind during this read, before I reached the end: With the vampires ruling over humans (with some sort of discipline and rules), was the tradition and the decadence of the feeding houses reprimanded or worsened? Will the couple's repeated intercourse sessions, made of duty, represent something more? Were Silas's betrayals justified, or was he only indulged into evil plans? Was he reserved and uncontrollably falling for Elowen, or was he manipulative and fully in control of selfish outcomes? Was he a good man, a morally grey character that we always fall for, or the unexpected villain? The ultimate plot is not revealed until the very end, and the suspense was torturous and completely savoury! 🤯✨️ There are numerous turnarounds for so many people: Silas, Fawn, Vienna, Evander, Katrina, Elowen... OMG!!! Each one was golden! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 "You have to find happiness wherever you can. Duty isn't everything." - Memorable quote ✨️✨️✨️ "I want you very much. I want you to be safe. And I will always choose you in the future." 🫠🫠🫠 "His presence cut through my happiness like frost." - Most of the book is wrapped up in beautiful poetic words, but this one has that bittersweet vibe that I can't overlook 📚✨️ Overall, it is a fantastic novel that haunted my mind, repeatedly making me wonder about the hidden truths, with plots that made the action exceptionally suspenseful and the couple dynamic hot as hell. 🔥📚✨️ "

"This story has completely hooked me. I couldn’t put it down because every chapter left me needing to know what was going to happen next. That twist halfway through literally caught me off guard, and my jaw was on the floor. I won’t say anything else because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. Silas has put me through every possible emotion. I started out not being able to stand him, then I slowly found myself liking him, then I absolutely fell for him and then I wanted to scream at him. Now I’m back to loving him again. I have no idea if that’ll last, but I’m so invested at this point. Such an amazing read, and one I definitely recommend. I seriously can’t wait for the next chapters and to see how this all ends."
