“He was the target she failed to kill, she became the wife he couldn’t control”

The knife pressed cold against Damien Morozov’s throat.
My grip was steady, my other hand braced against the mattress as I leaned over him, dark hair falling like a curtain between them. The blade kissed his skin, just enough to promise blood if I pushed harder.
Damien didn’t look afraid.
He looked amused.
Slowly, infuriatingly, his lips curved into a smirk.
“Careful,” he murmured, voice low and rough with sleep. “You might ruin the sheets, Mrs. Morozov.”
The name hit me like a spark to gasoline.
“Don’t call me that,” I hissed, pressing the knife a fraction closer.
A thin line of red appeared on his throat.
His smirk widened.
God, I wanted to wipe it off his face.
“Strange,” he said lazily. “Last time you were in my bedroom like this, you were a little quieter.”
My jaw clenched. Because he was right.
The memory flashed through my mind, the same room, the same bed, the same man beneath me as I’d come to end his life.
Only that night had ended very differently.
“Maybe I should finish what I started,” I whispered.
For a split second, neither of us moved.
Then Damien moved faster than I thought.
His hand shot up, grabbing my wrist. The knife clattered across the floor as he twisted sharply, using my momentum against me.
In one brutal motion he flipped us.
The world spun.
My body hit the mattress, headfirst, the air knocked from my lungs as Damien pinned my wrists above my head.
Exactly like that night.
His weight pressed me into the bed, one knee between mine, his breath warm against the back of my neck.
“Interesting plan,” he murmured near my ear. He pressed his knee higher between my legs, pressing my core
I suppressed a whimper, biting my lower lip.
His grip tightened just enough to remind me that I wasn’t getting free.
He rubbed his knee between my legs in slow, deliberate circles, pushing me to the edge, reminding me exactly who’s in control, “But if you’re going to try to kill me again, Myshka..."
His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. “You’ll have to try harder than last time.”
