Truly a magnificent epic tale
" I was drawn into this story early on. I typically read 10 chapters of a new book to see if I like it and will finish it. This got me in chapter 1. It was a truly magnificent story. At first glance the thought of a 9 year old mate was atypical but the author dealt with it brilliantly. Jumping ahead in the girls life twice to bring her up to 18, age of acceptance as a mate, all the while knowing she was theirs, and they were hers. Once the trio is together the story starts to gain traction. The enemy is revealed and the plot against them begins. There is danger, uncertainty, death, and consequences, yet you feel confident throughout that good will prevail, bad will lose and betrayal punished. The signs are there in the beginning for betrayal and yet are never openly addressed until the end, as such they are not surprises but still satisfying in their conclusions. The magical part of the story is mostly in the background, it's not discussed much except as normal for the participants. There's no explanation given as to how and why magic is used, and that makes it more powerful to the reader. It's built into the story like branches on a tree, expected, understated, yet powerful in its own right. I find it refreshing to use my imagination for some things rather than have them thoroughly explained. I've read this a half dozen times now and it will take up a place in my repeated readings. I've moved on to others of this authors work and I highly recommend this tale to those that like shifter tales, magical adventures and polyamorous relationships. "
