If this kind of thing is not your comfort zone, tread lightly). If you are hopping over here, wondering if you should give this story a go, I would 99% recommend. (The 1% is for not mentioning the FxF action 😉) It is a story that beautifully dissects the flesh of morality and power with surgical precision. Every decision in Malin's world has consequence, and is measured like a pulse: clinical, necessary, and impossible to ignore. Ilina falls into his world like a scalpel slipping where it shouldn’t - disruptive and impossible to ignore. In all this, Malin's and Ilina’s relationship unfolds like an open wound — part healing, part infection. He cuts, she sutures, desperately trying to hold together the edges. Malin doesn't handle emotions well. He is cruel. Someone who will break her. But Ilina, once the substitute, struggling to survive, learns to inhabit her stolen identity until it becomes her own. Under her quiet persistence, Malin's dual life — healer and executioner — fractures, revealing the man beneath the weapon. Both Malin and Ilina evolve through damage. Their growth isn’t clean. It’s earned through mistakes, silence, and the steady rhythm of trust built over a long time. They don’t just survive each other — they transform, piece by piece, into something *almost* whole.
