Needs re-editing - grammatical errors are off putting
"Read 10 chapters and found it ok. The plot isn’t as bad as the editing skills. There are way too many reoccurring grammatical and punctuation mistakes. Sentence formation is bad - incomplete sentences, lack of comma/full stops and incorrect use of tenses are the biggest mistakes. The story also lacks creative flair. It’s written in spoken English. It needs to be thoroughly edited. The author also needs to add depth to characters. Descriptive writing is missing. I don’t know how the characters look like, how tall are they, what are their facial features, how is their office premise, etc. There are also no layers to their personalities. For instance, if Michael was bewitched by Rylie, what drew his interest in her. While reading, it felt that he was drawn to her because of her vulnerable state and physical features. But considering his occupation, he would have encountered several vulnerable victims who faced restraint or abuse in their lives. So, what pulled him to Rylie didn’t come out vividly. I have a feeling that English is not the author’s first language, maybe that’s why there are so many errors. I won’t be reading beyond 10 chapters as I miss the essence and creative writing. My suggestion to the author would be to get it edited properly. The book can be captivating but at this point, it looks like it’s a first-attempt copy. PS: I, in no way, intend to hurt the author’s feelings. This is an attempt to educate him/her about the flaws in the book so that the copy becomes crisper and reader-friendly. "
