"This is solid writing. You’ve clearly got these characters living in your head—honestly, you should amp up the rent since they’re being so loud. Elena is a strong and exhausted from page one, but that’s actually where you lost me a bit. It feels like a mid-chapter scene. For a Chapter 1, I’m looking for that 'flick of a switch' moment, and right now, she feels a bit too used to the chaos. It feels like she's done this a million times already. I’m missing that glimpse of her fragile side before the armor suit-up. I’m not talking about a breakdown—just a tremor in the fingers or a fractured word before she goes guns blazing into the fire. If the 'unshakeable' vibe is what you’re going for, cool. I’m just giving you my eyes as a reader. It’s good work, so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Including me."
