From the opening chapters, I found myself caught somewhere between being half bewildered and half intrigued by Lucien Vale, and somehow rooting for him and Elena anyway. The arranged marriage premise immediately raises the stakes, but it's the characters that kept me reading. Lucien's voice feels incredibly authentic. Lines like, "I can reevaluate the wording if necessary," perfectly capture the awkward brilliance you'd expect from someone who approaches emotions the same way he approaches engineering problems. What I appreciate most is that he isn't portrayed as someone driven by money or power. He genuinely believes technology exists to give people more time to think, create, and live. That conviction gives him depth beyond the billionaire stereotype. The story also explores something I find especially compelling: the lonely human being behind the extraordinary achievements. Despite being surrounded by people, Lucien still feels profoundly alone, and those quieter moments make him feel remarkably real. Based on the first 16 chapters, I was hooked. "Gorgeous but exhausted billionaire Lucien Vale has finally decided what he wants out of life. It isn't fame, public approval, or even another billion dollars. No, Lucien needs a mate in order to satisfy his board of directors and restore investor confidence. The only question left is, can love truly be reduced to mathematics equation? Popular Galatean author Kayce Schrupp has done it again in her latest novel, 'The Acquisition' a tale based on a steamier version of Elon Musk. (Don't worry about the subject matter. This is a Schrupp novel. So you know it's going to be good.😉) It was fun watching Lucien Vale, rake his billions around, bully everyone around him, knowing that his equal Elena, his eventual AI chosen girlfriend is about to melt his heart at any moment. I'm on Chapter 4 at the time of this writing. (You can never trust the above chapter counter. It seldom gets it right.) So, they haven't met yet, but I know it's coming. My advice to you while reading this book? Sit down in your favorite summer chair, grab a cold drink and prepare for a delicious read. It's going to be a bumpy and steamy ride."
