"Such a great story about a young woman and her quest for meaning and family, only to discover that she only really needed one of them. It's a good short story about losing everything she loved early and her struggle to find a new family and meaning for her life. She goes through her teenage years finding both herself and her future, never letting anything get in her way. There's something perfect about reaching the end of a story and just stopping and this one delivers. I love the interaction between the FMC and the MMC, both her brother and her boss, and the uncompromising way she navigates life and career. There are a few surprises that sneak up on you throughout the book but just make it that much better. This was an older story that was changed a bit in editing, so there are a few things that needed to be adjusted after it was posted, but they don't detract from the plot, IMO. I can see myself reading this again and again just to enjoy the interactions. "
