Brilliantly Plotted Dark Academia Romance with Mafia Edge
"If you are looking for a tightly written, character-driven plot with strong emotional stakes, this is for you. Lillith enters Easton Prep to "learn how to socialise," only to unexpectedly disrupt the hierarchy by taking the Valedictorian title from Abel. What starts out as mere annoyance escalates as Abel’s obsession with Lillith deepens, while external danger enters the picture, forcing both characters to confront their feelings and their futures. Lillith’s arc is compelling. She begins as someone socially awkward and only focused on chess, but slowly learns to connect with others — not just Abel, but also her close-knit group of friends, the Clovers. This growth gives her journey emotional depth and makes her relatable. Abel’s development is equally important. He is introduced as a cold, narcissistic heir who lacks empathy, but his growing fixation on Lillith forces him to confront his feelings and, eventually, his sense of duty versus desire. Abel’s obsession does not flip overnight. It starts with annoyance and curiosity, turning into grudging respect and fascination, but always with an underlying obsession. While he starts off using his power at Easton to mess with her life, he ends up vowing to protect her, and it is this gradual shift that keeps readers hooked. His struggle with the "crown" he never wanted creates a morally complex character who must decide who he wants to be. At its heart, this is a story about identity and belonging. Lillith must learn to exist in a world that is more complicated than just chess games, and Abel must choose whether to follow the path laid out for him or forge his own — with her. But the detailed social dynamics, and Abel’s world of danger adds richness and immersion to the story. The contrast between the sterile, intellectual world of chess and academics, and the darker, grittier world of the mafia is written masterfully. It is this that gives this story weight. I would definitely recommend!"

"I actually loved the whole story! I kinda liked that he just stalked her until she relented. Her friends are totally cute with her and loving. I didn't get anything from his friends but more questions about them and their back stories! Hopefully, another book! Or books! I would recommend this to anyone who likes a really great story! I really enjoyed this read! Well done! It was written very well!"
