Questions, Questions ...
"Okay. This was a difficult review to write. Because so much has been revealed so gradually, I’m trying very hard to talk about what I love without actually saying anything I shouldn’t 😂 I think what has kept me hooked on this story is how it slowly becomes something I didn’t expect. You start reading thinking you know what kind of story you are getting, and then little by little, more starts unfolding beneath the surface. And I think that slow unfolding works so well because it gives the main characters room to develop naturally, without either of them feeling like they’re being shaped just to serve the plot. Jo’s journey is one of my favourite parts of the story. She begins having lost herself somewhere along the way, uncertain of where she’s going, but gradually becomes more sure of herself as she faces what’s coming. She becomes increasingly willing to stand up for herself, question what she’s being told, and push back when something doesn’t sit right with her. And then there’s Alex 👀 We get glimpses of who he is, but it’s his behaviour around Jo that really makes him intriguing. The way he responds to her, what he reveals, and what he holds back leave just enough room for us to form our own conclusions about him. I love that we aren’t simply told who he is. We get to work him out alongside Jo. I also really like how the author allows the world and its mysteries to unfold naturally rather than explaining everything upfront. We learn things as Jo does, piece by piece. The writing itself has this easy, immersive quality that makes the story flow without drawing attention to itself. You are simply swept along, noticing the details as they come. Like the inspiration behind the chapter titles. Knowing that some came from things like Selina Kyle’s “Hello There” neon sign in Batman Returns, which becomes “Hell Here” after she becomes Catwoman, makes those titles even more fun to me. I had questions. All. The. Time 😂 And then, of course, we're left with one very important question at the end: Are we supposed to hate Alex or Torsten?! 😂 Because I’m suspicious of both of them at this point. And Alex ... is there a reason for what you did? Because I have a feeling there’s still a piece of this puzzle I’m missing. And apparently I’m going to have to continue reading Book II until I find it 👀🖤"

The Dark Scot
"I normally don’t read fantasy, but this book completely pulled me in. The plot is so original, gripping, and unlike anything I’ve read before. I was planning to wait until the story was finished before leaving a review, but I just couldn’t keep my thoughts to myself any longer. It has the perfect mix of mystery, spice, and a tiny bit of humor to balance everything out. The male lead had me swooning from the very beginning, but now I’m seriously starting to question him. I can’t say much without giving anything away, but I’m still holding out hope that there’s another twist coming and that he’ll somehow end up being one of the good guys. I’ve been rooting for him and the FMC since the start, so I’m not ready to give up on them yet. No matter where the story goes from here, I already know I won’t be disappointed. The author is doing such an amazing job of keeping every chapter exciting and making it impossible to stop reading. For anyone wondering whether this book is worth starting, absolutely yes. It’s beautifully written, completely addictive, and will keep you on the edge of your seat."
A Well-Built Real-World Fantasy
"The journey of Johanna from an ordinary human to becoming a wielder is engaging and well developed. Alex's role as her guide is handled naturally, making their dynamic enjoyable to follow. The pacing is a bit slow at times, but it feels appropriate for a fantasy novel since it allows the world and characters to develop properly. Overall, this is a very enjoyable read."
Wish this author would finish the story
"Love the plot, and the writing style is great- a few typos, but nothing that detracts too much. But just when the plot thickened, it stops and seems the story hast been updated for 5 months. I hope the author comes back to finish it. Fingers crossed!"
