"Everything PostScriptRegrets writes is beautifully done. He takes you into the story, building the world in your mind with each word. Amazing imagery and character description. He doesn’t just lay it all out from the first page. You learn about the characters along with the development of the story. New facets and characteristics come along with the plot and you don’t want to put it down. The characters are complex but also feel like you could have met them in person. They hold a perfect balance of otherworldliness and normalcy that draws you in. Amazing storytelling, beautiful wording and world building. I will read anything and everything he writes as long as he continues."
A showcase in characterization and gripping emotional transformation
"I am unabashedly a total fan of this author, starting with Pet Brother and Jordan’s Brat, but as great as both of those books are, even they cannot come close to the emotional storytelling and rich characterization of this book. This review encompasses most but not all of the book, and it may be updated once the final chapters are published if I think there is anything more relevant to add. The incredible power of this story comes from its almost entirely character-driven plotline in the romance dynamic of Arlo and Trajan. There is barely a relevant antagonist and almost never a serious physical or even non-physical threat to any of the characters as there has been in previous PSR books, and yet this book contains some of the most emotionally charged and dramatic scenes I have ever read. This is the story of Arlo’s healing, and Arlo is perhaps the most incredibly conceived character in all of PSR’s work. He is quirky, kinky, beautiful, bratty, confident, and yet deeply vulnerable all in one, and the way his character arc develops up to the epiphany that resolves in his emotional healing and transformation had me so gripped that I was thinking about him day after day. Usually, I can put book characters aside, and they stay aside--I have plenty of my own fictional characters to juggle around in my head all day, but Arlo was with me, perpetually, from the day I finished the prologue until now, days after I’ve finished the current chapter. While I have liked many of PSR’s previous characters, from bratty Hakeem to adorable Hayden and brooding Jamie, I think I am quite literally in love with Arlo. He is a character capable of bringing out so many emotions for the reader as he contains so many emotions within himself, bringing a dynamic richness to a story in which he is the primary driver. Arlo and Trajan are a perfect romantic complement, and the love they find opens both of them to new possibilities and the salving of past wounds. Of course, this story is still an erotic romance. There is plenty of rough sex, and yet this seemingly simple aspect to the story (it’s an erotica of course there’s sex, right?) becomes something so defined for the characters and their dynamic, such an odd yet integral part of Arlo and Trajan’s healing, that it is transformed into something else entirely. The sex in Strip. Hit. Slap. is more than simply rough, hot, and kinky—a description that would apply to all PSR’s books. It is a force through which the characters define themselves and their love, and this makes it more than just sex but something operating in the story at a higher and vital level. While this book comes with a series behind it, I think it stands as a stunning example of what PostScriptRegrets is capable of as an author. As his newest and most active work, this book is a showcase of how he can create incredibly hot sex, gripping characters, and emotional relationships that will drive themselves into your heart and stay there like throbbing rose thorns, a vital mix of pain and pleasure that you will never forget."
