The Crash

“INCOMING!” a voice cries out.

Alarms blare from seemingly everywhere as thousands of colorful wolves run for their lives towards a castle. In the distant sky, a sparkle starts growing larger and larger by the second. Within the castle, the king of the wolves, a large silver wolf, runs into a nursery room.

“Auntie! Grab your babies and run! The cats have launched an atomic bomb and it will probably be here in less than a minute!” the king cries out.

A young woman with golden hair gasps in surprise and grabs a bundle with a baby who’s only a few months old. She then grabs an older baby of about 2 years of age as the king is leaving the room to gather the rest of his family.

“PREPARE THE ESCAPE PODS! AND DON’T FORGET THE SACRED TEXTS!” the king cries out. He then mutters something in their native language before continuing on.

The king’s aunt quickly hands her older baby to her husband.

“Take Eeko! Don’t let anything bad happen to him,” the aunt says.

“But what about you? And Zinnia...” the father asks.

“I will be in the pods in a moment, I have to go get something first...” the mother says.

The father nods, trusting his wife, and then he takes off with his wailing baby. He manages to make it into one of the first escape pods which also contains the king.

“Sir, where is my aunt?” the king asks.

“Silvarous, I assure you, she will be here shortly. She left something behind and is going to fetch it,” the father says.

“Your majesty! We’re out of time! If we linger any longer, we’ll all be wiped out of existence!” a servant announces, squeezing into the pod.

“But... my aunt!” Silvarous cries out.

“I’m sorry, we have to go!” the servant says.

The servant hits a button and the pod seals up.

“NO!” Silvarous cries out.

The escape pods all start launching out into outer space as quickly as possible.

“AUNTIE!” Silvarous cries out, staring out the window.

Only a few of the pods make it off of the planet before a large flash of light occurs. The bomb has dropped. The pods get blasted faster away from the surface by the energy from the bomb. One goes off course and all others that didn’t make it out of the atmosphere get consumed by a mushroom cloud as everything the king has ever known dissolved into nothingness.

“AUNTIE!” Silvarous wails again.

In an unknown, and entirely forgotten world, things were about to be changed forever. It was a dark night in the land and nothing stirred. The moon itself was hidden behind a shadow, displaying itself in its “new” phase. As for the many stars, they all hid behind veils of clouds. Everything was silent and still.

The silence was broken as a strange noise warbled and filled the air. Nobody had ever heard such bizarre noises before as they sounded very otherworldly. Along with the noise, a bunch of bright lights shone over the fields and over the hills. The mountains glowed as though the sun was shining upon them.

Whatever was producing the lights began to plummet from the sky. They crashed loudly in the field, scraping the grassy land. Thick smoke rose from the wreckage, rising up to the sky. The stars peaked out from their cloudy veil for a mere few seconds before even they decided it was too much and once again had to hide their faces.

There were people living in the forgotten world, though hardly anyone was awake when the occurrence occurred. It was so late at night that nearly every human was fast asleep and had been asleep for hours. The kings guards and the police were the only ones awake; they were on guard for trouble as per usual. The police found out about the crash and rushed to find out what had happened.

The wreckage of many spaceships lie there in the field, fresh as can be. The damaged vessels began to pop open and their inhabitants emerged. Many of the people from the spacecrafts were crying and weeping bitterly, but some of the younger ones among them had no idea what had just happened. The people ranged in age from not even born yet to a few elderly who were clinging to their children.

Despite the wide range of ages, the people all had a few things in common. All of them were adorned with wolf ears and from their backsides, they each had a wolf tail. In the chaos and confusion, none of them noticed that one of the children was wandering off. Nobody would notice his disappearance for quite some time.

“Where are we?! Are we safe?!” one of the Wolf People cried out.

“I’m not sure... Did everyone make it?” another asked.

“No... We had a few deaths... It was too late to save them...” another said.

“Our sacred texts... Did they survive...?” the other asked.

“Yes, they are in perfect condition,” another said.

“If they survived, we’ll be alright!” the first said.

The police arrived at the scene of the accident. Each one had a horse drawn carriage. Carefully and curiously, they exited their carriages. The air still smelled strongly of smoke.

“Someone’s coming!” one wolf said.

The police, unsure of what exactly happened, stared at the wreckage in complete disbelief. King Silverous, who is the leader of the wolves, made his presence known. He arose from his place and smiled hospitably at the police officers. In his mind, these officers were a ray of hope in his hopeless situation.

“Police...” he read off their badge, “This must be a safe place.”

“Are you armed...?” one officer asked the people in the wreckage.

“No, we left our weapons behind when we came here,” King Silverous replied.

“How many of you are there?” another officer asked.

“There was thousands of us... Some got lost, but most of us died...” King Silverous said, “I suspect that less than 100 of us survived...”

“Okay, I suppose we could let you guys stay here as refugees, but if you cause us any trouble, we’ll send you away,” the officer said.

“We promise to behave...and we could help repair your field. It won’t cost you anything other than the supplies, we always work for free,” King Silverous said.

“Hmmm... Interesting... And are you the leader out of them all?” the officer asked.

“Indeed I am. I am their king, Silverous Luster. However, they call me Silv,” the king said.

“A king, huh...? Boy, our king will need to know about you,” the officer said.

“I’d be pleased to meet him,” Silv said.

King Silverous Luster was then escorted to the castle, Snyvolon Castle, to meet the king of the island. As for the survivors among his crew, they were arranged into groups and sent to live with the humans. They knew not what their fate would be, but they were, at the moment, glad to be alive. All aside from the child who ran off would find themselves in a difficult situation, here in this forgotten world of Snyvolon Kingdom.
