A warm welcome to Paldea!
White haired girl rises from her bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Her Absol walks over to greet her. "Good morning, Absol." She simply utters to the white furred pokemon. It was mere coincidence that she and Absol had so many things common.
The way they spoke with a sense of calmness, the way people would dread their appearances, both of their adamant natures, added with the white hair and red eyes make them a perfect match. It's almost creepy.
"Sairene, have you gotten out of bed yet?" The girl doesn't respond to the familiar call of her mother's Gardevoir. Only dressing herself in the cute outfit that the Paldea Academy had sent her. It was a bit weird seeing a skort rather than a skirt in the package.
"What's for breakfast?" Sairene asked. "I've made you a sandwich, though I'm not too sure if you'd like it as much as Absol would." Gardevoir comments. "Don't even think about it." Sairene snaps at her Absol.
"Thanks for the food, Gardevoir. I'll head out soon, I just need to finish packing up some notebooks and things." The pokemon simply nods with a smile. "You can wait here, Absol." Her partner nods and sits down beside Gardevoir.
Sairene places her things where they need to be. Pencils and pens in a pencil case, a whiteout and eraser in a pouch, 3 notebooks, her rotom phone in the main bag with the notebooks, and a couple pokeballs in her pokeball pouch. Of course, Absol's pokeball is inside a cute keychain that could hold the smaller size version of a pokeball, so there wasn't any worry there.
Sairene clips the keychain onto her keys and places it into her bag, she stares at her cap for a second before deciding to wear it. The dark blue was a token to Absol's color underneath the white fur, though it didn't have any indication of a relation to Absol, the pokemon couldn't help but feel attached to it.
"Alright, I'm ready." Sairene announced, Absol walks toward her ready to walk along side her. "Go greet the neighbor, she said she'll help you get to the Academy." Sairene nods before a thought comes to mind, "Oh right, Absol, you're gonna have to be in your pokeball for a bit. I'm sorry, but if you run off in this new terrain, I doubt we'll find each other for a while." She pops out the pokeball from her keychain and Absol nods in understanding.
Absol returns to its pokeball and Sairene slips it back into the keychain. "Bye, Gardevoir, I'll be seeing you." The pokemon waves as she exits the house.
Sairene breathes for a second before coughing. Definitely need to get used to this new climate. She thought. The neighbours house... down the street.
Sairene begins to walk, a few people seem to take note of her, but she doesn't mind too much. Now then, she should be meeting her neighbour soon. "Woah! Look at you!" Sairene shakes herself out of her head, seeing a girl with black hair and green streaks.
"You look awesome! You remind me of a pokemon!" She laughs, Sairene nods, "The quiet type, huh? Not to worry! I won't make fun of ya!" She extends a hand out for the other.
"I'm Nemona, nice to meet you!" Nemona states with a grin, "Sairene. The pleasure is all mine." Sairene finally says. "Woah ! You talk like... like ah..." Nemona seems at a loss for words, "Sorry, I'm a bit dizzy from the change in climates." Sairene explains, "I'm from Kalos, specifically Snowbelle City. It's always snowing, so it's a bit of a hassle trying to get used to the sun now."
Nemona smiles warmly, "No, no, your speech is fine! It's just kinda weird hearing English without an accent!" Sairene nods, "So, Sairene, you're one of the new students, then?" Nemona finally asks, "Yes. I wasn't aware there were multiple." Sairene comments, "Yeah ! I was really caught off guard when Mr. Clavell asked Me, Juliana, Arven, and Penny to help out! I hear Penny got the one that's the most of a handful!" She laughs.
"Well, I'm glad you got me then. I don't think I'm that much of a hassle." Sairene comments, "Yup! You're one of the two kids that aren't a big handful!" Nemona exclaims. Oh dear, I feel bad for Penny and the other person then. "Say, do you have a starter pokemon?" Ah, the dreaded question. "Well, it's a bit complicated but no-" "Alright, you can pick one of these three then!"
Sairene jumps when the pokemon pop out of their pokeballs. "These are..." "That's right! Kalos regional starters! The others got Kanto, Galar, and I'm pretty sure Paldea starters! I didn't know you were from Kalos, but this totally fits you more than anyone!"
"They're all very cute, but..." Sairene feels bad just rejecting them, so she sighs. "I'll pick Froakie." Nemona grins, "Awesome pick! Alright then, let's have a battle! I can show you the ropes of one!" Nemona challenges. "Um... Actually, we might be late to our classes if we have one." Sairene comments, "Ah ! Oh gosh, you're right! Alright, we can have a battle later then! Come on!" Froakie and the others return to their balls and Nemona hands her the one that holds Froakie before running off, Sairene chasing after her.
"Awesome! We made it! Good thing you said something about the time, huh?" Nemona giggles. Sairene nods, a small smile betraying their usually stoic appearance.
"Oh! You're all here! Awesome, we all get to be classmates!" A brown haired girl giggles, her seatmate — whom has black hair and red highlights — groans, while a pink haired girl rolls her eyes, and another black haired kid, though this time with a pikachu, grins. "Why don't we introduce ourselves? I'm Nemona!" She extends an arm out to the boy with red highlights. "Goh. I'm from Vermillion City." Goh shakes her hand.
"I'm Ash Ketchum! From Pallet Town!" Ash exclaims, much to the distaste of Sairene's ears. "I'm Chloe Cerise, also from Vermillion City." The pink haired girl says, "I'm Juliana, vice-president of Paldea Academy."
And now all eyes laid on Sairene. "Sairene Verr Goldett. I'm from Kalos, Snowbelle City." Sairene bows before raising her head, "Awesome! So who were your guy's picks for your starters?" Nemona asks excitedly. "I declined." Chloe answered, without a hint of hesitation. "Same with Chloe! I already have Pikachu, who was given to me by Professor Oak!" Ash exclaims, his partner follows suit.
"You could decline?" Sairene and Goh inquired, almost offended. "Yeah? Did you take one?" Chloe asks Goh. "Yeah! That Arven guy wouldn't take no as an answer!" Goh shows off a pokeball with a sticker on it. It looks like... A Scorbunny?
"Wait, Sairene you wanted to decline?!" Nemona inquires, Sairene flinches, "Please don't yell into my ear. And yes. Same with Ash, I already have a partner." Sairene sighs. "Sorry about her, she gets a bit excited." Juliana settles her down.
"Who's your pokemon then?!" Nemona inquires, Sairene blinks at her. "Take a guess." Goh snickers, "A pikachu?" Ash actually does, "No," Sairene takes a seat next to Ash.
He actually attempts to think about it, before promptly giving up. "How about a hint?" Juliana asks, "I look almost identical to my pokemon." Sairene responds. "...Is it an Absol?" Goh makes an educated guess, "Bingo." Everyone sweatdrops at her tone.
"Are you being sarcastic?" "No."
"Which class are you taking next, Goh?" Chloe asks, "Uhm.. Probably chemistry? Seems fun..." "I wanna go to the battle grounds!" Ash exclaims, "Okay, I'll join you. That way none of us will be alone." Sairene comments. "Great idea, Sairene!" Nemona exclaims, Juliana takes two slips for math and hands one to Nemona.
Ash grins, "Alright! Lets go Seraine!" "Sairene." "Psybeam?" "Forget it, just call me Sai." "Got it! Spy!" "...Close enough."
Ash is quite eccentric. He's great at battles and aims to become a pokemon master, whatever that entails. Apparently, he got the Paldea starters this morning. He also has the title of 'Alolan Champion' under his belt, and has beaten several gym leaders in different reigons. Talk about a resume.
"Good match, Ash. How about another one?" Sairene points her Absol's pokeball at him. He grins, "Alright! You still up for it, buddy?" He looks down to his pikachu and the little one cheers.
"A battle between the new kids? This is gonna be fun." The crowd begins to murmur, as they watch. Sairene spots Goh and Nemona in the crowd but doesn't think much of it.
"Alright Pikachu, let's go!" Ash exclaims, Pikachu jumps onto the field with a grin. "Let's make a show out of this, shall we? Absol, Let's dance." Absol escapes out of its pokeball and growls at the opposing Pokemon.
The crowd cheers, "An Absol?! I've never seen one of those!" and "They look like a total match! That's awesome!"
"You may have the first move." Sairene bows, and Ash grins. "Alright! Pikachu, use thunderbolt!" The electric pokemon jumps into the air and lets out a cry as electricity crackles down toward its opponent.
"Match it up." Lightning crackles as Absol meets Pikachu's thunderbolt with its own. Effectively leaving the opposing in the air, likely shocked. "Psycho Cut." Absol dashes towards Pikachu and makes a cut with the attack before retreating.
"Pikachu! Are you okay?!" Ash yells out, Pikachu responds with a cry before gathering itself from the attack. "Alright then, use Iron tail!" Ash calls out, Pikachu responds, following his command. "Follow suit. And make sure he won't catch up." Absol growls as it combats Pikachu's iron tail with its own, and then following it up with another round of Psycho cut.
The battle continues, but Ash doesn't manage to land a hit. Eventually, Pikachu can't stand up any longer, and faints.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! The winner is Sairene and Absol!" The teacher yells out. Sairene bows, and Absol follows suit. "Great performance, Absol. You've outdone yourself." Sairene kneels to pet him and the Absol sighs appreciatively.
"Thanks for the match, Ash. I don't think Absol has had that much fun in a while." Sairene offers him an Oran berry. "Really? I don't think it was that good, I wasn't even able to land a single hit." Ash sighs, taking the Oran berry and popping it into his mouth, Sairene nods, "Not a lot of people can. Absol and I grew up together so we've had a lot of time to bond, the only one that's been able to defeat me was the Kalos League Champion." Ash pauses then laughs.
"You lost to Alaine too?" "Yeah." Sairene sighs, "I'll definitely defeat him next time." Ash nods, "You definitely will! Let's have another battle later!" Sairene nods, "Okay. After lunch."
Absol walks up to the two of them, Pikachu standing, or rather sitting, on top of Absol. "Oh, right. Here you go. Thanks for the battle, little one." Pikachu cheers as it gobbles up the Oran berry. "You and Pikachu act a lot alike." Ash laughs, "You and Absol too!"
Huh. Well, I guess making friends isn't so bad.
Sairene dusts her skort off, and Nemona and Goh walk up to them. "That was an awesome battle! You and Absol were so cool! Ash and Pikachu too!" Ash grins, and Sairene nods. "Thanks. I'm getting a bit peckish though, I'm gonna grab a bite to eat at the Cafeteria." "Ooh! I'll come too! I'm getting real hungry after that battle!" Ash follows after Sairene, completely ignoring the other person.
"Wait up! Goh and I were going to collect you so we could all have lunch!"
Ash doesn't seem to have any table manners, and Goh seems quite timid. Nemona is a wild card entirely.
"Where's Chloe?" Goh yelps, "Ah- she um.. she already ate, and she headed off to her next class." He responds sheepishly. "Oh, okay." Sairene returns to eating her food, Absol growls at her. "Shut up, you know how to open my bag, get it yourself." Sairene responds to her Absol.
He growls once more, "I don't care that you don't have opposable thumbs, thats not my issue." Sairene snarls. They stare at each other for a bit before Sairene just gives in and hands the pokemon her sandwich. Which it happily takes.
"Wow, you and Absol seem to know what the other is thinking, huh?" Nemona comments, "Yeah." Is all that Sairene responds with.
"Hey, Spy-" "Sai." "Sky, sure whatever- You don't really show a lot of emotion, huh?" Sairene blinks. "Yeah, I guess so." Ash hums, "That's kinda weird... Well! Whatever, what's your next subject?" "Oh, um.. I don't know yet." Sairene and Ash chat some more, and Sairene momentarily notices Goh staring at her strangely.
"Well, since we're almost finished, lets all get the same classes!" Ash cheers, "We have three today, don't we?" Ash's grin falls, "Right..." Nemona laughs, "Come on, Ash! We'll have some fun in chemistry!" Ash practically glows after hearing that.
"Okay, let's go get our classes then." Sairene states, Nemona and Ash cheer, but she notices Goh doesn't.
Ash and Nemona skip off to find chemistry, while Goh gets Math class. "I'll get Math too." Sairene says, the sweet registration lady nods understandingly. Goh immediately feels embarrassment fill his face, "Y-you don't need to! You could just get chemistry, like Ash and Nemona!" Sairene nods.
"Ash and Nemona can handle themselves, I noticed Chloe and Juliana were in battle tactics class when we passed by a window, so that leaves me and you." Goh flushes, "I can handle myself!" "I don't doubt that, it's just easier when someone you know is there with you, isn't it?" Sairene asks. Goh doesn't respond and simply nods.
While they walk, Sairene hears him utter a 'thanks'. While pleasantries was never her fortitude, she feels a little relieved she didn't come on too strong.
They walk into Math class and take their seats, occasionally passing each other notes if one had forgotten the question.
"Geez, that class was hard..." Goh complains casually. "It was.. I feel like all of my braincells imploded during the showing of solutions." Goh laughs before nipping his laughter in the bud. "It's okay, you can laugh." Goh smiles with a flush.
"Hey, Goh. Which class do you have last?" Easy question, she already knew the answer, but it didn't matter. "Oh, um... Battle Tactics..." Goh murmurs, "D-do you have any tips for me? Anything will do, I just-!" "Trust your pokemon." Goh blinks.
"Huh?" "Trust. Your. Pokemon. If you don't trust them, you'll both be working on different levels. Ash and Pikachu have a lot in common, so their bond is strong as ever. Absol and I also have a lot in common, but I'm not so sure about you and your Scorbunny." Sairene takes a breath tossing a pokeball in the air to relieve some anxiety, "Trusting it will make sure you both succeed. And if you don't.. Well, you always have another shot." Sairene raises the pokeball toward him. "Try not to take it to heart if you fail. It'll be your first battle, and we're all fifteen. Most people get their first pokemon when their ten. You'll do great," Goh blinks, before smiling. "It seems like Ash was wrong about you," Sairene tilts her head in confusion. "You do have emotions, it just shows in a really different way, doesn't it?" Goh shakes his head with a small laugh.
"Thank you, Sai."
