Cora glanced down at her precious 5 month old daughter, Mary. It was her first Christmas, Their first as a family of three! Cora bounced her on her knee and Mary giggled happily, patting Cora's cheek with her chubby little hand. "Ma!" She smiled broadly at her. Robert was absolutely adamant he'd get her to say papa first but luckily Mary had other ideas.
She looked up when the door to the library opened and her husband entered. Mary tried to wrangle from Cora's grasp. "Take it easy little one or you will Hurt yourself."
Mary stopped then turned to look at Robert. Her bottom lip turned into a pout and she screamed reaching for him.
Cora sighed and relinquished her daughter to Robert. Mary always seemed to prefer Robert to her.
Robert took Mary into his arms, giving Cora a peck on her cheek. "Cheer up my darling once she's older she won't want either of us."
Cora nodded, though not entirely reassured by that. She stood and grabbed something from behind the couch, setting the bag on the seat beside her. Mary watched with curiosity as Cora took out three small white balls and a green wreath. "ooh!" Mary said, eyes wide. Cora hung it on the edge of the end table then knelt on the floor a few feet away. "Do you want to play,Mary?" she asked as she tossed one of the balls through the wreath. Mary clapped in excitement when it was thrown. "Yay!"
Robert joined them on the floor since it was still time before Violet would be arriving. Cora took Robert's arm as they watched their little one play. Suddenly he turned to her with a serious look on his face. "Are you feeling alright my darling?" She smiled. I wondered if you noticed but yes I'm feeling better. After speaking to Clarkson it seems that I'm pregnant again!"
"Oh how wonderful, Cora! I am so happy!" Robert was kissing Cora when something hit him on the back of the head. they turned when Mary began giggling then crossed her arms. "Play!"
