Who's at the door?

It seemed to be a rainy night outside. It seemed like it had been going on forever as the time flew by. She looked out of the window as thunder flashed and hit the ground with a loud, *BANG.* In surprise she jumps back away from the mirror as her heart beats rapidly from the fear. (*BADUMP, BADUMP, BADUMP.*) She held onto her chest, and she attempts to calm herself down. “God I hate thunderstorms..Jesus christ.” She says. She climbs off her bed, placing both feet on the cold floor of her room. Suddenly she hears a noise outside. (Or was it outside?) ‘Should I investigate and see what the hell that noise was? Or should I just stay in my cozy room where it’s safe…?’ She then decides that she’ll just check and take a look to make sure everythings ok. Besides she’s at home by herself so it’s not like she can just ask her older brother or dad to check what was making the noise outside. “I’ll be fine. Everything is ok.” She slowly lifts herself off of her bed, and begins to make her way down the stairs. Every step she takes seems to make her more nervous the closer she gets downstairs.

Suddenly the doorbell rings only twice as she steps down on the final step. *RING, RING.* Her heart sinks in fear. There’s something or someone waiting. Waiting for her. Chills begin to envelop her entire body as sweat drips down her face. Her heart won’t stop beating. *BADUMP, BADUMP, BADUMP, BADUMP.* It feels like her heartbeat grows louder and louder as the seconds pass by. She’s frozen, and then the doorbell begins to ring frantically. *RING, RING, RING, RING, RING, RING.* It won’t stop, why won’t it stop..? Her mind is telling her to run, and hide. What is this thing…? Feeling returns to her legs and she runs up the stairs into her room. Then the lights turn off. Then she hears a *BANG, CRACK.*

Whatever this thing is, it’s inside of her house, and it’s looking for her. She hears frantic footsteps moving all around the house. Then it calls her name in a voice that sounds just like her mother’s. “Sarah! Where are you?” She grabs her phone and texts her mother, ‘Mom where the hell are you!? There’s something or someone in the house, and I don’t think it’s you guys.’ Suddenly she hears three knocks at her door. *KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.* Thoughts fill her mind like water flowing in a river and she doesn’t know what to do. Then she realizes that she didn’t remember locking her door. Then her door knob turned very slowly. Her heart sinks and she feels the same way that she did when she realized that whatever this creature was it was at her door. It knew. It knew as soon as it opened the door that it had found her. “I found you Sarah.”
