Chapter 1
I looked out the car window in boredom as I watched droplets of rain land down the window and race their way down. Soon the light taps of the rain stopped as we crossed over to a different state. I looked up into the sky as the gray gloomy clouds became white and the sun peeked out behind them shining bright. “Mom, are we there yet?” I couldn’t help but ask.
She let out an exasperated sigh. “No, Lilith we have yet to pick up your sister”. The words that left her mouth drew my brows together in confusion. “Sister?”, I answer back questionably.
“Yes, a sister, have you forgotten I’ve remarried Lilith.” She says stating the obvious.
“Of course, I haven’t forgotten, I just wasn’t aware I had a step-sister”. I glared at the back of my stepfather's head as I emphasized the work step. My mother nudged her husband as if signaling him to explain. “Yes, Lilith you have a step-sister which we don’t talk about much because she’s off in college and has been the least of my worries”. He answers.
“Why am I now finding out about her?” I ask yet another question. He groaned in annoyance. “Because we don’t talk about her Lilith”. He responded
“Why is that?" I ask desperately to know the reason behind the fact.
“Just because we don’t Lilith” He yelled silencing me from answering another question. He ran his hands down his face before letting out a sigh. “I’m sorry I…I just don’t like being pestered with questions”.
“It’s okay”, I replied in a small whisper and with that I returned to looking out the window as we sat in comfortable silence for some time until arriving at the airport. My father unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car greeting a woman who I assumed to be my new stepsister. Mother also stepped out to greet her. She didn’t forget to tell me to leave and greet her too. Once I had stepped out everyone was waiting on me.
“You must be Lilith, Jhonattan told me all about you”, She said with a smile and a twinkle in her eyes. Pulling her brown highlighted hair behind her ear she wrapped her arms slowly around my waist pulling me into a hug. Her hands slowly moved down my back before landing on my ass giving it a small squeeze. “Oh, I am going to have so much fun with you”, she whispers into my ear leaving behind a kiss.
When she had finally let go my face was left flushed as I ran over to the car when I found my dad scratching his head in annoyance. “What’s wrong?” I ask. He turns around to face me and my new sister who’s name I forgot to ask. “Well, the bags took up most of the space there’s only room for one.”. He said he was moving from me and my sister. “It wouldn’t be a problem for you to sit on Judith’s lap, right?” He asked. I opened my mouth to reply but was quickly cut off by Judith.
