Chapter 1
*Beep*Beep*
"Ughh"
I groan as I get off the bed. I do my morning routine then go downstairs for breakfast to meet my dad making breakfast for the two of us, its being that way for a while since my mom left.
|Flashback|
I sat beside the Christmas tree as my parents watch me open my presents, then I frowned
"What's wrong Ashlyn " mom asked.
"Yeah, you don't like it?" dad said looking puzzled.
"No, I thought you were buying me a Barbie." mom looked confused so I continued,
"Remember, it was around November we were buying things in a store then came about the Barbie section, then you pinkie-promised me you would buy it for Christmas then that nice man came up to you kissed you on the cheek then helped us pay for the groceries" mom turned pale as I blabbed on,
"Then you guys dropped me at my playdate then.." mom interrupted me "That's enough Ashlyn" but dad looked livid then looked at me " Darling please go upstairs, mommy and daddy need to talk." I nodded
As I entered my room I heard angry stomps in the direction of my parents room, then muffled yelling. The next day mom left home and I never saw her again.

"Goodmorning Darling, how was your night?" dad asked, I flashed him a smile as I sat down as he served me my breakfast
"Morning dad, it was nice"
"Sooo, are you ready for your final year?"
"Totally, there just one part I'm not looking forward to"
"Let me guess Maddison" dad chimed "She was such a nice little girl but now.." he shudders and I don't blame him "Its started when her mom became mayor so she turned into a little overlord" I scoff as I remember the times she acts like a brat.

It was mothers day, so my school decided to let the students make pottery for their moms, I would have skipped if it wasn't part of my art assessment.
All the kids were to sit on their desks with their moms beside them. I sighed watching everyone with their moms, I was about to walk away for a while before Maddison came up to me then swiped my sculpted vase away.
"Hey give that back!" I yelled as she dangled it in the air.
"Why you don't need it " She taunted. "My mom shows up where's yours?"
The class including the moms looked on but no one intervened because of her mom was the mayor. "Well...your mom only shows up to publicize her image so people can vote for her" I weakly retorted, Maddison was about to say something but heard the chatter of reporters following her mom so she threw my vase which I luckily caught then sat in her seat acting innocent.
I sat back in my seat feeling depressed when my dad walked in with chocolate cookies enough for the class "Dad!!" I yelled as I ran to hug him, I heard the whispers but I didn't care as I took out my vase and handed it to him.
"Its beautiful darling" he inspects the vase then pats my hair. I flash him a smile as I help share the snacks around.

I space out for a while till dad snapped me out of memory lane. "You ready?" he says as he picks up the key and heads outside.
"Yeah dad." I pick up my bag and follow him as he slings his arm over my shoulder and we walk over to the car.
