"This book was great! It has a little bit of everything that is desired in a book - humorous, cute, action-packed, and of course, bloody! The beginning was so nice and light hearted, and characters were just instantly lovable! There was so much diversity between them, which we finally do see more of, but still not enough, and I was very happy how this diversity was brought up in this book, pointing out the issue and raising awareness to it in the most clever and enjoyable way. I absolutely loved how gradually everything was taking a dark turn, and then suddenly - plot twist, after plot twist! I couldn't put this book down! Also, the chapters were not dragging as they were short, which made the story even more exciting! Overall, very enjoyable read, there's literally nothing negative that I could point out. You just can't go wrong with it! Definitely will cheer you up when needed, or get you out of reading slump! It's just so adorable!"
Good fun escapism. With vampires.
"I got pulled into this book from the very first paragraph when Rel, the lead character, tries to stop her friend from turning invisible! There was plenty of action as Rel discovers she's a vampire and has to battle various monsters in her small town, while dealing with normal high school problems at the same time. And there was the start of a romance. I want a sequel so I can find out if Rel and Rick do actually manage to get together. Overall, a good fast paced read. "

"5 Heart-Racing-Stars! ☆☆☆☆☆ From the very beginning, i was transported into a fantasy world of vampires, demons, ghosts and more. This was more than just a fantasy story, it had heart, humor and jaw-dropping & heart-racing action. FYI: I was laughing my ass off at some of the stuff Rel was saying. “Just because they were open about sexuality with me did not mean I wanted to know they actually did stuff. As far as I was concerned they were both virgins. Virgin sex demons, yes. Ick, ick, icky.” -Hahahahahaaa... Rel's parents are mad funny. I loved how the old classic myths about vampires were broken here. I always thought it was stupid that they couldn't see themselves in mirrors or look at crosses. Rel discovering her powers was super cool. “I’m a vampire, and all I know about my kind is that, unlike the movies, sunlight doesn’t kill me, and I can see in the dark. No fangs, no flight, no turning into mist, no super strength, I love garlic, and I don’t combust when I step in a church. I hadn’t been brave enough to stick wood through my heart - I figure that would kill most things, so wouldn’t prove much. Oh, and I was alive. My heart beat, I had blood, I was completely alive. I could hold my breath for a really long time though. That was useful on the swim team” Another one of the many things i loved about this book, is the progress of Reliquiae becoming a Vampire. Teeth, blood sucking and all that. The story wasn't rushed, and i ended up bonding with this character who is just trying to fit in despite everything. “...but uhh, let’s not tell my dad that I fell over, okay? I’d never hear the end of it. Well, actually he’d probably never talk to me again, but same thing.” -Hehehe... The dual POV between Rel and her teacher, Mr. Anderton was a nice touch. I also liked the scene when Rel glamoured the school bully, Chad. i actually ended up liking him after he was bitten. Highly recommened to everyone. If you like action, read this book. If you like to laugh while reading, get this book. And if you love suspense and an awesome story with relatable characters, Buy This Book!"
Sanctuary's Fiend started out seeming like your average high school book
"Sanctuary's Fiend started out seeming like your average high school book. Vampires mixed with teenagers, cool. Except the main character, Rel, hasn't got her powers yet. Now I like the highschool trope kind of thing, so I didn't mind the opening, but I can imagine that if you're not into that, then the opening for this book would be kind of slow. After a few chapters, the author swapped to a different point of view character for a chapter, and the book just took off from there! I could hardly put it down, and finished the whole thing in a day. something I rarely do with books. Ultimately, it's still about a young girl finding her way in the world, but all the characters are great, and evevery chapter there are hints of SO MUCH MORE that Rel doesn't know about. The author keeps teasing you with things we don't get to know about, but omg I WANT to know! It's a happy, fun story. It's self contained, but I HOPE that the author writes a sequel!"
A wonderful surprise !
"Sanctuary's Fiend had a shaky start. I'm not really into the American high school tropes, but I pushed through. Boy am I glad I did! It very quickly became a fast paced book that was impossible to stop hitting "next chapter". The characters are diverse and and the writing keeps pulling you along. And the chapters are short so the already fast pace story kept me feeling like I was a super fast reader for once! Slow open full of tropes that weren't my thing, but it picked up quickly. Great book and I hope there's a sequel!"
