Prologue

Sairene is less than thrilled when she tries on the... less than appealing uniform that had been sent to her by her mother. Augustine barely holds himself together as he snaps photos to frame in his office.

“Sycamore, if you don't put that phone away right now, I will personally let my pokémon strangle you to death.” Sairene snaps. Augustine lets out a laugh, “Okay, okay, I'm sorry, sweetheart. You look so cute!” “I look morbid.” “That's harsh.”

Let's get the introductions out of the way, shall we? Though I'm sure most of you know who everyone is by now, it would help, wouldn't it?

Augustine Sycamore; a pokémon professor that looks like he's in the middle of a midlife crisis ninety percent of the time he's in his office. Also Sairene's self proclaimed adoptive father, though he's never signed any documents for an adoption, he's practically raised the little girl since she was ten and running around like she was in a manic episode every five seconds.

Sairene Verr Goldett; An unfortunate and mysterious little girl. She looks a lot like the Pokémon Absol, though it's simply a medical condition called albinism. She also seems to bring about chaos and misfortune, those who dare oppose her in a less than respectable way usually end up in less than fortunate circumstance. She has a personal knack for fashion that she doesn't seem to mind sharing.

Augustine ends his laughter when he pats her on the head. “I'm glad you aren't giving up on your studies,” he warmly smiles at her, “But please at least try to enjoy your high school life? I don't want you to end up a total overworking recluse like Professor Oak's grandson.” Sairene snorts at the mention, she's never met him but the gossip she's heard makes him seem like quite the character. “Didn't said recluse have fangirls and a convertible when he was like,, ten?” Sairene crosses her arms.

Augustine laughs, “Yes, oh Arceus, I'd forgotten about that.” Sairene rolls her eyes. “Fine, fine, I won't cram four years of school into one year, even though it'd look good on a resume.” An Absol jumps through the open window of the kitchen, where they had been discussing, a basket of Oran Berries in its mouth. It grunts as it lands on the floor, placing the basket next to Augustine.

“Thanks Abby, we appreciate the berries.” Sairene gently pets the pokémon and the Absol purrs. “Say, which pokémon are you going to be bringing to Paldea?” Augustine asks, “Probably just Absol. I love Tyranitar, Fourteenth, Sin, and everyone else but I think I'll need a new roster for this region.” Sairene responds. “Well, how about you take this Froakie with you?” Augustine offers a premier ball to Sairene.

“Huh..?” “You need a new roster, yes? Why not start with a Kalos starter?” Augustine offers with a smile. Sairene blinks before shaking her head, “This is just another trick to remind me of you, isn't it?” Augustine nods, confirming her words. Sairene simply sighs and takes the ball. “Thanks, dad.” And the prideful and joyous smile on Augustine's face makes Sairene fear for her ego.

“I'll be in the yard with my pokémon, just give me a call if you need me.” Sairene mutters before shuffling away in embarrassment. “Okay, have fun, ma petit fille.”
